As part of its efforts to strengthen emergency response and minimize damage to
property and possible loss of lives, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Council (PDRRMC) and the Local Government Unit of Virac
spearheaded Incident Command System (ICS) Executive Course training recently.
On May 16 the Provincial Local Government Unit of Catanduanes thru PDRRMO,
in collaboration with the OCD V helded the whole-day training at Twin Rock Beach
Resort.
Pursuant to RA 10121 or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
Act, the Office of Civil Defense has been taskd to formulate standard operating
procedures for coordination through the ICS.
A total of forty individuals "successfully completed the training, during which they
were imparted with the essential knowledge pertaining to the aplication of general
concepts and principles of Incident Command System (ICS) from a managerial
prspective.
Among the participant was Governor Joseph C. Cua who says that the ICS Executive
Course aim to develop skills, and attitudes esential for the application of basic
concepts of ICS in any disaster situation.
He added that the island-province hope to cultivate a resilient and well prepared
comunities capable of eFectively adressing and mitig8ing the impact of Future
Emergencies by empowring Disaster Management Leaders thru the ICS Executive
Course.
As part of the commitment of OCD 5 in capacitating the local government units
(LGUs) in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM), the OCD5 Operations
Section and Municipal DRRM Office (MDRRMO) of Vrac spear headed the Incident
Command System Executive Course last May 15,
