In Module 4: Using Technology to Teach Vocabulary, I have observed that Some participants have never used the technology mentioned to help their students learn vocabulary. However, they express their willingness to explore and implement the new resources mentioned, such as Lingro.com and text from Voice of America, in their vocabulary classrooms next time. They also emphasize the benefits of these resources, such as student engagement and vocabulary development. As Yoseph stated in a comment, 'I am certain that students in my context will enjoy learning vocabulary incidentally using technology and making new words memorable and active.' In addition, other participants have used various tools such as Quizlet, Memrise, and Duolingo, for their vocabulary classes. Overall, participants are open to incorporating technology into their vocabulary teaching practice and recognize the value of these tools in enhancing vocabulary learning. In Module 5: Next Steps and Farewells, I have observed that Many participants highlighted the benefits of technological tools in enhancing language learning opportunities and promoting active learning and collaboration. They found that the course not only helped them gain educational knowledge but also provided an opportunity to socialize with others who share the same interests. As stated in a comment by Andora Visha, "Media Literacy has never been so exciting and diverse." Personal Reflection As an Alumni Facilitator, these past five weeks have been a tremendous learning experience. Though I haven't been as active in the discussions as I would have liked, I believe the time I did engage with the participants' posts provided deep insights on using technology in the English language classroom. Their diverse perspectives and ideas not only enriched my own teaching practices but also introduced me to new tools and approaches. I would like to quote from Andora Visha, one of the participants, who described the technology tools and apps in a wonderful way that, "These tools and apps are not mere collections of websites but a mental and emotional collection of ways on how to fit all learning styles regardless of age, background, or language demand." This quote deeply touched me because it shows how technology can be powerful and adaptable, meeting the needs of all learners. It reminds us that technology is more than just superficial resources; it can provide personalized and inclusive learning experiences. Andora's words also emphasize the excitement that comes from exploring these tools and their potential to enhance language learning in various contexts. Moreover, this course has encouraged me to rethink my own teaching practices and explore new avenues for incorporating technology in the classroom. The participants' insights and experiences have challenged me to consider the potential of technology beyond my current approaches. In conclusion, the experience of being an Alumni Facilitator in this course has been an eye-opening journey. The participants' contributions and Andora Visha's inspiring quote have reinforced the significance of technology in promoting inclusive learning experiences and enhancing media literacy. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from their ideas and experiences. Together, we can unlock the potential of these tools and apps to create engaging learning environments for learners of all ages and backgrounds. Heng Lyhour, Alumni Facilitator for the OPEN Program
