This case study presents a scenario in which the university (MyUniversity) has hired a Network Consultant Group to design their network. A worksheet is to be completed for each part. A formal report, similar to what would be given to the company, will need to be created after all tasks that have been completed. This case study requires that you accomplish at least the following: • Use the resources provided, diagram and narrative, to set up the physical network • Set up an IP subnetting scheme using VLSM. Use the 10.0.0.0/8 network the following subnets and any other subnets required by the university: - Students-wifi , -Staff-wifi , -Commerce, –Admin, -Applied , –Library, –CCE, -Harare, -Server-lan, switches, -wifimanagement, point to point connections within the LAN, -etc Use DHCP for allocating ip addresses to all end devices except for servers Enable ssh on all Routers and layer 3 switches • Configure the routers and routing as required • Set up and configure the switches and VLANs as required • Set up and configure controller based wireless as required Configure VPN between the remote sites and the main campus Secure the network using AAA Verify and troubleshoot all connections • Provide detailed documentation in the appropriate format • Provide a written final report Scenario MyUniversity is developing high-speed wireless products. The main campus occupies three buildings in Bulawayo, each of which requires its own VLAN for staff wired devices. One building is for the Administration Group. The other building is for the Commerce faculty, and the Applied Sciences faculty. The university also has three remote sites namely Library, CCE and Harare office. The remote sites are connected to the main campus via vpn solutions provided by the ISP. Each remote site will need a subnet for wired devices. The university is implementing a controller based wireless LAN. ALL the APs including on remote sites should be broadcasting 2 SSIDs (staff-wifi and students-wifi) authenticated via the AAA servers. A partially completed network diagram has been provided. Laptops on the topology diagram connect to the network using wireless connections. The task is to design, implement and fully document the University network. In addition to a formal report, the university would like to see a prototype of the network built on packet tracer, before it is fully implemented, to verify that it will meet its needs.
