Creating a Set Design Congratulations, you’ve been hired as a Scenic Designer at My Fantastic Theatre Company! You will be designing scenery for the play, “Someday.” Steps/Process 1. Research! you’ll need to research the internet for your chosen location and time period. Look at indoor spaces that would be appropriate settings for scenes in the play. (10 points) 2. Set Rendering. A "set rendering" is another word for a sketch or drawing of the set design that is created with the goal of communicating the design concept to others. So, while your rendering doesn't have to be perfect, it should include enough detail to convey your ideas clearly to someone else. Using the setting details from the play (Mainly, the Kitchen), skim through the play and jot down notes and detail of the setting. Then sketch your design for the stage, or you can create a collage of your scenic research and explain which elements you would use for different settings in the play. Please provide at least TEN research images of scenic inspiration. (25 points) 3. Put it all together/3D Model. Now it’s time for the Design Meeting (aka, Final Exam). You will present your scenic design approach and create a 3D model. Make a boxset version of your set design using paper cut outs or other found objects around your house. For the basis of your model, use the material that we provided. You can Feel free to be creative when finding materials that will effectively communicate your ideas to others. (25 points) The full, finalized and finished design is due no later than Wednesday. June 14, 2023. during which you will present your design to the rest of the class.
