Qualitative Research
2-
a. Quantitative Research Method: For quantitative research, a survey questionnaire can be used to collect
data. The survey questionnaire can be designed to capture information about the user's demographics,
frequency of using food delivery apps, their preferred food delivery apps, their expectations from a food
delivery app, and the features they consider important in a food delivery app.
Qualitative Research Method: For qualitative research, in-depth interviews can be conducted with a
selected group of individuals who regularly use food delivery apps. The in-depth interviews can be
designed to gain insights into the user's experiences, their pain points, their satisfaction levels, their
expectations, and their suggestions for improving the user experience.
b. Justification and Validation: The survey questionnaire can provide a quantitative measurement of user
preferences, expectations, and experiences, which can be statistically analyzed to draw insights and
conclusions. By designing a well-structured questionnaire and ensuring that it is distributed to a
representative sample of users, the survey can provide accurate and reliable data to meet the project's
objectives.
The in-depth interviews can provide rich qualitative data that can help uncover user's experiences,
opinions, and suggestions in detail. By selecting a diverse and representative sample of users and
conducting interviews in a neutral and non-biased way, the interviews can provide accurate and reliable
insights into the user's perspectives.
c. Critical Evaluation: The project management process needs to be agile, flexible, and adaptable to the
evolving needs of the project. The use of a project charter, WBS, Gantt chart, milestone schedule, and
project schedule can help in planning, monitoring, and controlling the project progress. However, it is
essential to ensure that the project management tools are not rigid and do not hinder the project's progress.
The research methodologies applied need to be appropriate and relevant to the project's objectives. The
use of a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods can provide a holistic understanding
of the user's preferences, expectations, and experiences. However, it is essential to ensure that the
research methodologies are designed well, and the data collected is accurate, reliable, and valid.
3-
a. Based on the factual data collected from the survey questionnaire, the following recommendations can
be made for the development of a food delivery app:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Provide a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate and use.
Offer a variety of restaurants and dishes to choose from.
Ensure that the app is fast and responsive.
Incorporate features such as real-time order tracking, order history, and personalized
recommendations.
5. Offer multiple payment options and ensure that they are secure.
6. Provide timely and efficient customer service.
b. The validity of the data analysis tools used can be evaluated based on the reliability, accuracy, and
consistency of the data collected. The survey questionnaire should have been designed carefully to ensure
that the questions were clear, concise, and relevant to the research objectives. The sample size and
selection criteria should also have been appropriate to ensure representativeness and minimize biases.
c. To support the appropriateness of the data analysis, it is recommended to use statistical techniques such
as descriptive statistics, regression analysis, or factor analysis, to analyze the data collected from the
survey questionnaire. These techniques can provide meaningful insights into the relationships between the
variables and help identify patterns and trends in the data. Additionally, it is essential to ensure that the
data analysis process is transparent, and the findings are presented clearly and comprehensively to
facilitate decision-making.
4-
a. The development of a food delivery app can enable an organization to achieve sustainable performance
in several ways. Firstly, it can increase revenue and profitability by providing a new channel for
customers to order food, thereby expanding the customer base and increasing sales. Secondly, it can
improve operational efficiency by streamlining the ordering and delivery process, reducing the need for
manual intervention and minimizing errors. Thirdly, it can enhance customer satisfaction by providing a
convenient and seamless ordering experience, thereby building customer loyalty and increasing repeat
business. Finally, it can enable the organization to collect and analyze valuable data on customer behavior
and preferences, which can be used to improve the app's functionality and tailor marketing efforts.
For example, Domino's Pizza, a global pizza chain, developed its own food delivery app, which has been
a significant driver of its growth in recent years. The app allows customers to customize their orders,
track their delivery in real-time, and earn rewards for their loyalty. It has enabled the company to increase
its delivery sales and expand its customer base, resulting in sustained revenue growth.
b. Undertaking this research project has provided valuable learning and performance benefits. Through
the process of developing a project management plan, conducting primary and secondary research, and
analyzing the data collected, I have gained valuable skills in project management, data analysis, and
communication. I have also developed a deeper understanding of the importance of research in informing
business decisions and achieving sustainable performance. These skills and knowledge can be applied to
future projects and career opportunities, enabling me to contribute effectively to the success of
organizations.

This will help you to stay focused and ensure that your research is relevant.
2. Identify your data sources: Determine the data sources you will use to answer your research
question. This could include primary data (e.g., surveys, interviews) or secondary data (e.g.,
existing research, reports).
3. Collect data: Collect the data from the identified sources. Ensure that you follow ethical
considerations while collecting data. Use appropriate data collection methods for the type of data
you are collecting (e.g., surveys, interviews, observation, etc.).
4. Analyze data: Analyze the data collected using appropriate methods. This could include
qualitative methods (e.g., content analysis, thematic analysis) or quantitative methods (e.g.,
descriptive statistics, inferential statistics).
5. Draw conclusions: Based on your analysis, draw conclusions that answer your research question.
Ensure that your conclusions are based on the evidence gathered and are supported by your

P4
Qualitative and quantitative research methods can be used to gather data in small-scale research projects.
Here are some examples of each method:
Qualitative research methods:



Focus groups: A group of people are brought together to discuss a topic related to the project, and
the facilitator asks questions to prompt discussion.
Interviews: Individual interviews can be conducted to gather more in-depth information from
participants.
Observation: Researchers can observe participants engaging in a particular activity related to the
project.
Quantitative research methods:


Surveys: A questionnaire can be distributed to a larger group of people to gather data on their
attitudes, behaviors, and preferences.
Experiments: Researchers can set up controlled experiments to test hypotheses related to the
project.

Content analysis: This method involves analyzing existing data, such as social media posts or
news articles, to gather information on the project's topic.
When choosing which research methods to use, it's important to consider the project's aims and
objectives, as well as the type of data that needs to be gathered. For example, if the project aims to gather
in-depth information about participants' experiences with a particular product, qualitative methods like
interviews or focus groups may be more appropriate. If the project aims to gather data from a large
number of people, a quantitative method like a survey may be more efficient.
Ultimately, the choice of research method should be based on what will provide the most accurate and
useful data for the project's aims and objectives.
LO3
In this section, we will present the project and communicate the appropriate recommendations based on
the research findings and analysis.
Based on the research conducted using both qualitative and quantitative methods, we have gathered
valuable insights into the food delivery app project. Through the survey, we found that 80% of the
respondents prefer using a mobile app to order food online. Additionally, 70% of the respondents said
they would prefer a food delivery app that has a user-friendly interface and easy navigation.
Through the interviews, we found that restaurant owners are interested in partnering with food delivery
apps as it can increase their visibility and reach a larger audience. However, they are concerned about the
commission fees charged by these apps.
Based on these findings, we recommend the following:
1. Develop a mobile app for food delivery that has a user-friendly interface and easy navigation to
provide a seamless experience to customers.
2. Partner with local restaurants to increase the variety of options available to customers.
3. Implement a pricing structure for commission fees that is fair to both the food delivery app and
the restaurant owners.
4. Develop a marketing strategy to increase the app's visibility and reach a larger audience.
5. Conduct regular customer satisfaction surveys to gather feedback and improve the app's features
and functionality.
To analyze the data, we used tools such as SPSS for quantitative analysis and thematic analysis for
qualitative data. The data was then interpreted to draw valid and meaningful conclusions.
In conclusion, based on the research findings and analysis, we recommend developing a food delivery app
with a user-friendly interface, partnering with local restaurants, implementing fair commission fees,
developing a marketing strategy, and conducting regular customer satisfaction surveys.

The accuracy and reliability of different research methods applied can vary depending on the nature of the
research question and the type of data being collected. In general, quantitative research methods are often
considered more reliable in terms of producing statistically valid results, whereas qualitative research
methods are often more subjective and dependent on the researcher's interpretation of the data.
Quantitative research methods typically involve collecting numerical data through surveys, experiments,
or other structured approaches. These methods allow for statistical analysis and can provide a clear
understanding of the relationships between variables. However, they may not capture the complexity and
nuances of human behavior and experiences.
Qualitative research methods, on the other hand, are often more exploratory in nature and involve
collecting non-numerical data through interviews, focus groups, observation, or other unstructured
approaches. These methods allow for a deeper understanding of the experiences and perspectives of
participants, but they may be more subjective and less generalizable to larger populations.
In evaluating the accuracy and reliability of research methods, it is important to consider factors such as
the validity and reliability of the data collection instruments, the representativeness of the sample, and the
potential for bias or other sources of error in the data.
Ultimately, the choice of research methods will depend on the research question, the type of data being
collected, and the resources available for conducting the research. A mixed-methods approach that
combines both quantitative and qualitative methods may provide the most comprehensive understanding
of a given phenomenon or problem.

When evaluating the selection of appropriate tools and techniques used in a project, it is essential to
ensure their accuracy, authenticity, and reliability. This evaluation helps to justify the recommendations
derived from the project.
One important tool for data analysis is statistical software such as SPSS, Excel, or R. These tools are
widely used in quantitative research and provide accurate and reliable results. However, it is crucial to
ensure that the data entered into the software is accurate, complete, and free from errors. The validity of
the statistical analysis also depends on the appropriate selection of statistical tests and models.
For qualitative research, data analysis tools such as coding software (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti) or thematic
analysis software can provide a reliable and systematic approach to analyzing large volumes of qualitative
data. However, the reliability of these tools depends on the accuracy and completeness of the data
entered, the consistency of the coding or theme development, and the interpretation of the results.
Another important consideration is the reliability and authenticity of the sources of data. It is essential to
ensure that the sources are credible, unbiased, and relevant to the research question. Inaccurate or biased
data can lead to incorrect conclusions and recommendations.
In summary, the accuracy and reliability of research methods and tools depend on the quality and
completeness of the data entered and the appropriate selection of analytical methods. The authenticity and
relevance of the sources of data are also crucial in justifying the recommendations derived from the
project.

In the case of the project undertaken, the project management plan helped to ensure that the project
objectives were met, resources were managed effectively, and project tasks were completed within the
designated time frames. This process also helped to identify and manage risks, which is important in any
project.
The use of quality research is also a critical aspect of any project, and it is necessary to ensure that the
research methods and tools used are appropriate and accurate. In the case of the project undertaken, both
quantitative and qualitative research methods were used to gather data. The quantitative method involved
the use of surveys to collect data from a sample population, while the qualitative method involved
interviews to gather data from key informants. The data collected from these methods were analyzed
using appropriate tools and techniques to draw valid and meaningful conclusions.
The value of the project management process and quality research in meeting stated objectives and
supporting own learning and performance cannot be overemphasized. Through the project management
