Metaverse

Hello! I found the idea of ‘Metaverse’ quite intriguing. I often find it difficult to define whether
we are already living in the world of the metaverse or entering into it. From dating to office
work, business, socializing, gaming, banking, ordering food, all of these are happening by just a
single click or tap on the screen. Apparently, it seems our life is inside the world of
cyberspace/metaverse, or could these be just some technological tools that are making our life
easier? Or is there something else coming which will make our life completely virtual?
I believe this group project and knowledge of my team members will help me to understand this
idea in depth. I look forward to working with the team. Depending on the requirement and
dynamics of the team I could fit myself in any of the roles but for now I would choose the role of
content developer.
Before this discussion I never consciously thought of any alternative of phrases except ‘Hey
guys’ for addressing people in group where people of different genders were present. It never
felt like wrong. But after giving it some thought, now I see the mistake.
Most of the social media, website content or ad/marketing I consume are mostly presented
through female and in most of the cases they are from one of the privileged color group. I
understand the social media algorithm of showing me content/ads/marketing with female
model/presenter/actor- as I am male. But I don’t understand why 70% to 80% of the time it is
from the color group.
Besides ads/marketing for a consumable product or no brainer contents are always presented
through women. But if it is investment, financial service, advanced technological product then
male actor/presenter present or explain the product. Hardly you will see a woman is explaining
the engineering aspect of a newly launched car. But, to display a newly launched car they will
keep a model beside it without any reason.
