VOL1: ISSUE 03 AL-KABIR POLYTECHNIC (A Unit of Kabir Welfare Trust) Department of Electrical Engineering presents e-Magazine (JAN-MAR, 2023) Editorial Page 1 From the Editor’s Desk Attaining knowledge is a continuous process. We learn, we fail, re-learn from our mistakes and eventually arrive to better understandings. The journey which started a few months back in the form of the department’s e- magazine is still continuing, thanks to the enthusiasm of the department as a whole. It gives me immense pleasure in introducing the third edition of Electrical Department’s E-magazine “ELECTRAZINE”. While the ultimate purpose of the magazine has always been to engage and strengthen its readers’ association with the department and the College, the institution recognizes that it can do so effectively only by earning and retaining the respect and faith of its readers. In this context, these editorial standards are set forth to give readers a clear idea of what they can and should expect from the magazine. Thanks and enjoy reading!!!! Abid Hussain (Lecturer, EE) I am glad to pen for this wonderful magazine as an appreciation of the commendable efforts put forth by the team of electrical department. The release of this spectacular issue of magazine Elektrazine added value to their constant efforts. I am sure that such effort will continue further with higher motivation and energy levels. I hope this will enhance the competence of the department. I take this opportunity to express my compliments to the members of Electrical fraternity and sincere thanks to editor. I hope you enjoy reading this issue of Elektrazine. Prabhat Kumar “Happy reading ... Give WINGS to your dreams … It is a time to FLY”. (HOD/Incharge, EE) ELECTRAZINE Metaverse The Metaverse is a collective virtual shared space, medium for communication that connects physical and virtual experiences. In the world of education sector, Metaverse allows students to attend virtual classes remotely and experiencing elements of the real classroom. On the other hand, has helped students to customize their approach to educational programs on the basis of their individual preferences. Overall, immersive learning delivered through a metaverse platform, like UNIVERSE by View Sonic, is able to provide a much more engaging space for learning. In this virtual world, students are able to experiment and learn safely in an environment that allows adaptability to their needs and comfort. Concept of metaverse In the computer industry, the metaverse is a vision of next iteration of the internet: a single, shared, immersive, persistent, 3D virtual space where humans experience life in ways they could not in the physical world. A 3D digital space mixed with the real world and the virtual world in the metaverse, has been heralded as a trend of future education with great potential. So, in summary virtual reality helps education by creating immersive lessons that are engaging, memorable and impactful for students. These Virtual reality experiences develop learning outcomes and help students to build interpersonal skills like collaboration, empathy and social skills necessary for the future. The real goal of the developers of the metaverse technology is to replace the digital world (internet) by the virtual world. Internet users will be able to interact directly in the digital world. Page 2 The metaverse provides a new way of interacting with the world, it is more immersive and interactive than anything experienced by us and has the potential to change the method we learn, work, and play. Metaverse must be accessed separately through virtual reality and/or augmented reality enabled devices. Advantages of the metaverse • Metaverse makes it easier for students to understand abstract ideas in an interesting way. Student can benefit from the almost real, handson experience that the metaverse provides and improve their understanding how things work. • Students can interact with teachers, peers, and friends in a safe and authorized setting. These promote creativity and grow of student academic interests. • In a less stressful understanding process, it can be a good opportunity for parents and teachers to educate their student on a variety of skills and knowledge. Disadvantages of the metaverse • Student can be targeted and bullied by anonymous users, which increases more concerns about cyber bullying. • There is a chance that student may be exposed to offensive material like violent material or hate speech. • Metaverse is likely to become addictive for children. Prabhat Kumar (HOD/Incharge, EE) ELECTRAZINE From the desk of faculty Student’s contribution Three-phase Fault Detector Fault on transmission line can be caused by lightning strikes, flashover on contaminated insulator surface, broken conducting line, short circuit between conducting lines, etc. Electromagnetic transients in power systems result from a variety of disturbances on transmission line, such as faults. A fault occurs when two or more conductors come in contact with each other or with ground in three phase systems. Faults are classified as single line to ground fault, line to line faults, double line to ground faults and three phase faults. 70% to 90% of the faults are transient in nature such as insulator flashover, lightning, swing wire and temporary contacts with foreign objects. Remaining 10 -20% Faults are permanent in nature example: a small branch falling onto the line, broken wire causing a phase to open or a broken pole causing the phases to short, faults on underground cables. These faults give rise to serious damage to power system equipment. Faults which occur on transmission line not only affect the equipment but also the power quality. The main objective of the three phase fault detector is auto reclosing of the supply in case of temporary fault and trip in case of permanent fault. The type of fault as well as line in which fault has occurred will be displayed on LCD and the relevant message will be sent to to concerned person via GSM modem. Manish (Lecturer, EE) Page 3 Time management Time management means rightly managing the time available to one. Time is significant, and it must not be wasted. One can always do much in a little time; hence so much to accomplish.Time management is especially essential for students, as they have to study various subjects in a limited period. Time management is a skill that could do life beautiful work wonders if practised daily. One, who knows how to manage time properly, can manage all of the responsibilities effectively enough, and such people utilize the maximum of their time and achieve success in their life. Creating a schedule of all daily activities and stipulated time to each of them based on priority is fruitful. One must avoid wasting time on useless activities like watching TV, movies, etc. The time thus saved can instead be utilized for reading or sports/games. Having made a schedule and prioritizing everything as per the need, the next important thing is to stick to that schedule at any cost. At, last I would conclude saying that in my views without time management one should not be able to built his discipline and without discipline behaviour cannot be built and without a good behaviour, even if you are enough educated without a good behaviour your degree is a just waste paper.
