BASIC SKILLS IN VOLLEYBALL PASSING ● ● Also known as Forearm Underhand Passing A service reception technique to make contact with the ball once it crosses the net and initiate the team's pass-set-attack offensive sequence in an effort to score a point or return the serve. STEPS TO EXECUTE THE SKILL PROPERLY ● Bend your knees and spread your feet apart to make an open or ready stance ○ The legs are a little further than shoulder width apart with feet parallel ○ Lean forward a little with arms hanging straight to create a platform before making contact with the ball ○ Move naturally by shuffling. ● Create the platform by placing one hand over the other in a slant position and forming a fist. . ● The arms must be straight, slightly away from chest, and close to the torso. The lower part of the forearms (between the wrists and elbows) serves as a platform where you should hit the ball. ● Do not swing your arms upward. Instead, extend kness to raise the arms forward when it makes contact with the ball to complete the pass. Weight is distributed in the direction of the pass. 1 BASIC SKILLS IN VOLLEYBALL REFERENCES Grant, T. (2016). Volleyball – Passing and setting.
