Language Day – Speed Spelling Bee Host: English Teacher Alan Lichtman Assistants: 10th Grade Students Laura Oliveros and Alejandro Otoyo Classroom 309 Begins 9:10am 15 mins per competition 10 Groups (Grades 6 – 8) Round 1 – Writing (All 18 participants) - Host reads a word, next H reads a sentence with that word in it, then the word again. It will not be repeated after that in order to save time. - Sts will write the words on sheet a paper given to them. - They will have 15 seconds to write their response - Students will quickly have their exams evaluated, then Host & assistants will quickly tally the scores and announce which 5 students will go to the next round. Round 2 – Verbal (Top 5 scores from round 1). Students will line up in front of the white board10 seconds to complete spelling of word. Since this is a speed spelling bee we will not stop or slow down. Sts must be ready at all times, or we will pass them and go to the next student.
