lecture 2 AC

Heat Load Calculation
2nd term
Lecture 6
Dr. Samah E. Hatab
Cooling load estimate:
Step one
- Enter outside design temperature conditions (table 1),
- Enter inside design temperature conditions (specified by the customer),
- Enter (wo and wi),
- Enter ΔT (To – Ti).
Step two
- Awindow (ft2) X factor (table 2).
Step three
- Awall (ft2) of (partitions, roofs, ceilings, and floors) X factor (table 3) X ΔTdb
Step four
- no. of people X sensible and latent heat (table 4),
For lights:
- Watt X 3.4
Step five
- Total motors HP X 3393 (table 5).
Step six
- cfm (table 6, 7) use the larger quantity only X (ΔTdb, ΔW) X (1.08, 0.67).
Step seven
- Total sensible and latent load.
Step eight
- Total air-cycle load (sensible + latent loads)
Step nine
- Load for a single zone X factor (table 8).
