Air blows out to the sea to replace rising air and at
the sea warm air rise.
Yes Allysa?
Very good!
Class, in your own opinion, how do air moves? (student answers may vary)
Is it from low pressure area or is it from high
pressure area?
Let us hold on to your answer and as we go
along at our discussion we will be answering
that.
ENGAGE:
Class, we will be having a visitors for today,
Say hi to our visitors, we have Sangre Amihan

rescue, she summoned the cold wind to come
near to the Dyosa, and she is Amihan. Dyosa
Ganda was mesmerized by the creation of
Bathala. Suddenly, she feels that something is
wrong there is no more cold wind following
her. She look back and found out that oops,
Amihan fall asleep. The cold wind was
replaced by a humid and warm air, Oh! Dyosa

outputs. Your presentation is superb!
We are talking about the Wind system that
governs the Philippines. And these two wind
systems are what we called?
The two wind system is Amihan and Habagat
Yes JM?
Very good!
Talking about Amihan, it is wind system that
we experience during October to May. The
wind blows from eastern part of the Earth to
the Philippines. The wind passes over some
bodies of water before it reaches the
Philippines. The wind picks up moisture along
the way and brings rain to the eastern part of
the country.
To supplement our learning about Amihan, let
us watch this video clip.
Habagat is experienced during May- October
If Amihan is a wind system that we experience
217
during Oct.-May,how about Habagat?
Yes Franco?
Correct! Habagat is experienced during MayOct. Came from the Southwestern part of the
Earth to the Philippines. Brings hot and humid
weather and a heavy rainfall.
To supplement our learning about Habagat, let
us watch this video clip.
ELABORATE:
The monsoon, Amihan and Habagat affect
people in different ways.
Why do farmers welcome the monsoon?
Because there is rain and farmers can plant their
crops.
Why are fisher folks not so happy about the
monsoon?
Because the sea is not calm, so they can’t go fishing.
To further explain the effect of monsoon let us
watch this video clip.
