Number of Employees It ranges between 20 – 35 employees in Egypt and around 200,000 people around the world. Environmental Uncertainty UN Women Egypt is very flexible organization to the changes in the environment. We can say that has a high uncertaintyenvironment. Internal Variables of the Organization There is no effect from the internal variables to the goal of the organization. There is a strict code of ethics and conduct to be followed internally. All is working for a better cause and higher goal which is to reach out for women in need as many as we can. We have international and national staff members, they come all over the world and work in Egypt according to their mission. All of them follow the code of conduct and the policies and regulations of UN Women. We can say that the organization is multi-cultured. The organization depends on the manpower, yet its focus is about the policies and the projects in the hands of the executioners. As you can say, here the show must go on regardless of the internal variables indicated. 1 Type of Organization Culture It is Achievement Culture. No matter if changes happen in the environment the organization is stuck to achieve its goals and mission. There is no extent to change in any way in the external environment. It is a result-oriented culture. This is the best culture that the organization can work within. We can define that the culture is flexible, but we are not working in a crisis. We tend to be more bureaucratic yet what differs us from bureaucratic is that we can change to fulfil our goal and keep the project working. Environmental Scanning Task Environment: Competitors: None. It is not a competitive market (Solo) as all organizations with the same approach, aim to help the society, yet UN Women differs by the uniqueness of its projects that it works on, and differs by the connections that it has with the government. ❖ So, we can say that competitors don’t affect the approach and the goal (environment) of UN Women Egypt. Suppliers: It doesn’t affect the organization much because the organization sets rules and regulations and policies on how the project should operate, then it funds its partners from the international fund that it gets, and the partners execute the project and follow up with the beneficiaries. Also, the suppliers’ problems in getting papers, hygiene staff etc. for the office, all of this was solved when the notion of “working from home” was raised and implemented. So, we decreased the stuff that was used, and we didn’t face any other problems with the suppliers. ❖ So, we can say here that the suppliers here affect the executioners whom the organization funds, and don’t affect the approach (environment) of UN Women Egypt. Customers: they are the beneficiaries, and they are important because they determine the success of the program and services given by the organization. Moreover, the international fund is defined according to the success of the project. The success of the project is determined by the number of women in need we reached out. If the organization didn’t reach many beneficiaries and serve them according to the implemented policies and regulations, then the fund would be decreased to the organization. We are supported by the government in reaching out to the women in need. ❖ So, we can say that customers (beneficiaries) affect the approach (environment) of UN Women Egypt greatly. They are the reason UN Women Egypt was created. Labor Market: it refers to the UN staff members, it affects the organization when other organizations serve the same scope, offer higher salaries to the UN staff members, and gains more manpower. Yet you can find a large sector of people targets to work in the UN system. ❖ So, we can say that labor market affects the approach (environment) of UN Women Egypt somehow. General Environment: Economic: the organization helps women in need by empowering them and teaching them how to be empowered economically. If entering the market financially is hard, then the organization will face problems in teaching women and empowering them, will lead to declining number of projects and decreasing the number of women the organization reached out. Economic situation in Egypt doesn’t affect the organization financially as it is funded internationally. Yet it affects the beneficiaries and the employees who are working in the organization. ❖ So, we can say that economic dimension affects the approach (environment) of UN Women Egypt somehow. Legal-Political: None, as we have the governmental entities as partners to help UN Women Egypt completes its mission. Also, global wise, there are no sanctions or rules that strict the work of UN Women in Egypt. ❖ So, we can say here that legal-political dimension here doesn’t affect the approach (environment) of UN Women 2 Egypt. Socio-Cultural: None, UN Women Egypt must implement the rules and regulations to empowerment women with no discrimination regardless religion, culture, and race to achieve goals of 2030 Agenda. This is one of the main codes of conduct in UN Women. ❖ So, we can say here that the socio-cultural dimension here doesn’t affect the approach (environment) of UN Women Egypt. Technological: I refer here to new technologies that emerge in the usage of implementing projects and creating new ideas for women’s economic empowerment. ❖ So, we can say that technology affects the approach (environment) of UN Women Egypt somehow and helps the organization fulfil its goal in a better way. Natural: None. Egypt’s nature is friendly to work in it. the organization can reach women easily. And the goal is to reach as many women as we can no matter what the obstacles. ❖ So, we can say here that nature doesn’t affect the approach (environment) of UN Women Egypt. International: recently the fund was decreased due to growth of inflation in the USA and due to Ukrainian war. This affected the projects and some of the projects were closed before finishing their mission. ❖ So, we can say that international dimension affects the approach (environment) of UN Women Egypt greatly. It is how UN Women Egypt was created in the first place. 3 4
