Given : K-12 education program has brought many positive changes to the
education system, it has also faced several issues that are worth discussing. Here
are some of the key issues facing the K-12 program:
1.Implementation Challenges: One of the biggest issues with the K-12 program is the
challenge of implementation. Many schools and teachers struggle to adapt to the new
curriculum and teaching methods, which can lead to a lack of consistency in the quality
of education across different regions and schools.
ANSWER:
During the process of curriculum implementation, we find obstacles that vary with
the curriculum itself, location, political situation, economic situation, teacher preparation,
facilities and plenty other factors, making it more complex to execute. The implementation
of K-12 Program find some Insufficient learning materials such as books and readers
guides, more than one preparation for DLL's, and lack of laboratories and other teaching
and learning facilities, difficulties in assessing Student-Transferee from other educational
institution offering different subjects, more than one preparation for DLL's.
2.Funding: The K-12 program requires a significant amount of resources to implement
effectively. However, many schools struggle to access the necessary funds to support
their programs, resulting in inadequate resources, outdated facilities, and limited access
to technology.
ANSWER:
K-12 program needs a big budget to implement. That’s why some ask for funds or
donations from politicians or any agencies to support the things to needed for the
program.
3.Teacher Shortages: The K-12 program requires a large number of qualified teachers,
which can be challenging to find and retain. Many teachers are overworked and
underpaid, leading to high turnover rates and a shortage of experienced educators.
Standardized Testing: The K-12 program relies heavily on standardized testing to
measure student achievement and evaluate schools. However, many argue that these
tests are too focused on memorization and do not provide an accurate assessment of
student learning or the effectiveness of the education system.
ANSWER:
Low pay and high stress are, and have been for many years, the major barriers to
meeting the national demand for teachers usually cause why there are teacher shortage.
If the salary will increase and if they only limit the loads of teachers for sure this problem
will have solution.
4.Inequality: The K-12 program has faced criticism for exacerbating existing social and
economic inequalities. Students from low-income families and marginalized communities
often have limited access to high-quality education and resources, leading to a significant
achievement gap between different groups of students.
ANSWER:
There should be fairness in the program so that there will be equality in
implementing and will have no bias. Educational inequality is the unequal distribution of
academic resources, including but not limited to school funding, qualified and experienced
teachers, books, and technologies, to socially excluded communities. These communities
tend to be historically disadvantaged and oppressed.
5.Overcrowding: Many schools are overcrowded, leading to large class sizes and limited
individual attention for students. This can make it difficult for teachers to provide
personalized instruction and can result in lower academic achievement and student
engagement.
ANSWER:
If there is overcrowded in the classroom this might happen we can have a difficulty
in understanding different learning styles, will lead to the lack of effective communication,
and creating engaging lesson plans that fit the curriculum. For us to manage this we
should do the following; keep everyone busy. The more students you have in your
classroom, the easier it is for a few distracted kids to derail your lesson and we should
use flexible grouping. With this we can creates an environment for students that allows
them to learn without distractions.
