healthcare sector in the country is
one with many problems and not
enough solutions. Many hospitals
have long waiting lines, not enough
beds for treatment and not
enough time for doctors to see all
the patients waiting.

INTRODUCING THE WELLNESSHUB APP
Wellness hub is a telehealth app which provides simple medical aid in the current world of
telecommunication. This is a platform where patient have accessibility to hospitals, medical
personnel and pharmacies within their vicinity. Wellness hub allows people to reach a
healthcare provider faster especially during emergencies. Customers will have the option
to choose their preferred medical personnel. Customers also have the option of having
their prescribed medication being delivered to their doorstep.

OUR FRAMEWORK
For the app to be able to function there needs to be a diverse range of medical personnel . From doctors to nurses to
pharmacists to physical therapists. With this variety, patients are assured of finding solutions to their medical problems.
However, the wellness hub doesn’t offer eye and dental services.You may wonder how we are going to get access to
all these medical personnel. By targeting hospitals and pharmacies in the areas, the idea is pitched and interested
personnel only have to pay a subscription fee to have access to the WellnessHub platform.
There are many ways by which patients can have access to these readily available personnel. It could either be
through our chat forum or by video consultation. For more urgent situations in person consultation is even availabe,.
The WellnessHub platform is user friendly and with the consumers in mind a lot of options are available. Consumers
can choose from available hospitals in their vicinity, pharmacies near them , at home care , video and clinic
consultation and different payment options.
For the chat forum , after patients are connected to medical personnel they text their symptoms and are asked follow
up questions. They ae either then prescribed drugs or asked to come for a clinical consultation.
We at Wellness Hub are accessibility friendly and have a voice reader for the visually and physically impaired. Winnie,
our very own siri reads aloud the options and helps in navigation of the app
OUR FRAMEWORK
 For the pharmacies option after patients
have had their consultation doctors
directly send prescriptions to the closest
pharmacy and with a touch of a button
they are able to view the drugs
prescribed and their prices. With the use
of a third party payment system
payments(Mobile Money and Visa Card
Payments) can be made and drugs can
either be picked up or delivered to a
location of the patient’s choice
TARGET MARKET AND STATISTICS
IN AS MUCH IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL TO EXPAND THE SCOPE OF THE APP,WELLNESS HUB IS CURRENTLY FOCUSED
ON KNUST AND ITS ENVIRONS. THE TOWNS OF AYEDUASE, BOADI ,KOTEI AND BOMSO WERE INCLUDED BECAUSE WE
REALIZED THAT THE STUDENT POPULATION OF THE UNIVERSITY SPILLED INTO THESE TOWNS. OUR TARGET MARKET
ARE THE STUDENTS , INHABITANTS AND STAKEHOLDERS OF THE KNUST GEOGRAPHICAL COMMUNITY. .
THERE ARE ABOUT 20 PHARMACIES AND 20 HOSPITALS CATERING TO A POPULATION OF ABOUT 80,000 PEOPLE.
FROM THIS ONE CAN ESTIMATE A RATIO OF 1:4,000 FOR HOSPITALS AND 1:4,000 FOR PHARMACIES. WITH
WELLNESSHUB APP, IT REDUCES THE PRESSURE OF THE HOSPITALS HAVING AT LEAST 1000 PEOPLE TROOP IN.

However great the app may be there is a need for the
community to adopt the idea for its success.
This can be done by
1. Organizing seminars to educate necessary
stakeholders on the importance and convenience of
telehealth care
2. Organizing blood drives and community outreaches
to create awareness
3. Get endorsement from respectable people in the
community
HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE?
As we are now in the planning stages, there need to
be reasonable time for the app to be developed and
for the community to be comfortable with the idea.
As such a duration of about a year is proposed to get
the app running and on its feet. The designing of the
app will take about six months. Implementation
however, will be in phases with the initial stages being
to register the medical personnel. This will take about
a month to two to do so. The duration will also be
used to educate the society of the benefits of this
innovation and to get all on board.
After, a pilot implementation with only the first year
students of KNUST to test the application will be
done. This will be used to correct any and all bugs
before it is released to the general public.
SECURITY RISKS AND SOLUTIONS
To ensure maximum security, payments are not made directly to the app but
through a third-party. This party registered collects payment of funds, processes
and sorts the money to help with distribution of funds to the right people
Patients can pay by either bank transfers or mobile money transfers preferably.
Cash is also accepted but is however not a preferred option. The cash can be
paid to the delivery drivers upon arrival at your doorstep or to the pharmacist
upon pickup.
WellnessHub cares about safe drug distribution as such drugs are not just
handed over to random delivery guys who could peddle them illegally but only
by those who have been trained and employed by the company and are trusted.
SECURITY RISKS AND SOLUTIONS
 When it comes to healthcare, there is always a risk of there being a breach of doctor- patient confidentiality. To
minimize the risks of this happening, personnel will have to sign waivers which will be enforceable by law if not
adhered to.
 Another risk that may arise is the credibility of the doctors , nurses and pharmacists on the WellnessHub app. All
medical personnel will be required o to submit certification of their qualifications. We at wllnessHUb then go the
extra mile to confirm if the certification provided is actually valid.

Cyber security is also a major issue when it comes to the protection of the data customers enter into the app.
How do we prevent the hacking? By introducing third party plugins and integrations. This adds additional security
to the firewalls .

The benefits of the Wellness Hub extends to three different categories of stakeholders. First the consumers, next the
medical personnel and finally the health centers.
Benefits for the consumers
 They are able to give reviews. Consumers are given the chance to rate the services offered and also recommend it
to other people. This gives them the chance to feel they are being thought of
 Booking appointment online: Patients and customers will be able to speak to nurses and doctors on the app and
book appointments where necessary. This will be especially beneficial to disabled persons and old patients who find it
difficult to wait in line when they go to see the doctor. Booking appointments online will enable them to meet their
doctors on time and without any hassle. They would also be able to book home care services in extreme cases.

 Avoid long waiting lines: It will reduce waiting time and the risk of death and
aggravated health conditions. Patients are treated with extra care since there wouldn’t
be any long queues.

Increased convenience: It helps patients to receive medical attention faster,
efficiently and reliably. Paperwork and bureaucracy involved in seeking further medical
attention or consultation for some conditions will be reduced.
 Increased Satisfaction: Customers can order their prescribed medications through the
online pharmacies on the platform, they can also speak directly to a health care
professional in the comfort of their homes and get help quickly when there is an
emergency. All of this will help patients and customers get the needed attention and
hence bring about satisfaction.

 Promotes Healing And Reduces The Risk Of Infections: The importance of Home care nursing, keeps
the patient protected from the infections that they are exposed to in hospitals. Post surgery and
critical care may leave patients more sensitive to the risk of relapse and infection. An in-home nursing
care can help the patient heal better and faster due to less exposure to infections.
 More Affordable Than In-Hospital Care: A patient may require critical care that may need special
procedures to be performed multiple times every day. In-hospital care is usually much more expensive
and it is not feasible to keep the patient in a hospital for a long period of time since it is not costeffective. In-home care provides professional medical care of hospital standards to the patient in the
comfort of their home. It is highly cost-effective when compared to in-hospital care.

 Increased ability to attend to more patients- A doctor is able to attend to multiple patients at the same time due to
the chat box interface.
 Additional revenue stream- In addition to the salary that comes from working in a health centre, a medical personnel
now has an additional source of revenue from the app. Who doesn’t want extra cash? $$$$(wink wink)
 Improved work-life balance- With the flexibility of the app, doctors have the ability to login whenever they are ready
to work and are not restrained to fixed working hours. This gives them more time to focus on their personal lives

 Scheduling flexibility- with the idea of booking consultation, hospitals are less packed allowing for them to put less
healthcare workers on duty and
 Easy access to specialists- due to the ability to give clear symptoms in the initial stages, customers are able to easily
access doctors specialized for their symptoms faster
 Improved customer retention- when given satisfactory services, customers are more likely to return to the same
healthcare provider
 They are able to receive reviews. Consumers are given the chance to rate the services offered which gives the providers
the opportunity to see problems which otherwise went unnoticed.

Maintenance of the Wellness Hub app requires inflow of cash. Ways by which we plan to
raise such funds are ;
 Seeking support from Non Governmental Organisations
 Medical personnel signing up on to the app paying a monthly subscription fee
 Hunting for angel investors
 Selling some percentage of shares of the Wellness Hub app.

MAINTENANCE OF THE APP
For the Wellness Hub app to keep operating smoothly, bi monthly
updates will have to be made to the app to fix any bugs that may arise.
Beta testing will also be available to allow early adopters to try new and
updated versions of the Wellness Hub app and give honest reviews and
comments before it officially goes live.
There will also be training and retraining of medical personnel and
healthcare providers to keep them up to date on the app. This will also
be an opportunity to teach how to navigate the Wellness Hub app.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Wellness hub is a mobile app that enables users to access medical care, medical advice and
medical prescriptions from qualified medical practitioners on the platform .
The app will bring together qualified medical practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and physician
assistants, who will render medical services to people seeking medical attention and advise.
This will be a 24 hours service .
Users of the app will have to log on to the platform to choose a hospital near the users vicinity to
consult a doctor to seek medical advise and if there is a need for medical attention, a medical team
from the hospital in that vicinity will go to the location of the user for treatment . If medicines are
prescribed after consultations doctors send prescriptions directly to the closest pharmacy , the list
of the medications prescribed pops up on the users screen with billed amount that can be paid
through easy payment methods such as Mobile money transfers and Visa or Master card payments.
Wellness app will be available on Google Play Store and App Store , more so signing up the app will
be made easier with a payment of an affordable subscription fee.
