The healthcare sector in the country is one with many problems and not enough solutions. Many hospitals have long waiting lines, not enough beds for treatment and not enough time for doctors to see all the patients waiting. INTRODUCING THE WELLNESSHUB APP Wellness hub is a telehealth app which provides simple medical aid in the current world of telecommunication. This is a platform where patient have accessibility to hospitals, medical personnel and pharmacies within their vicinity. Wellness hub allows people to reach a healthcare provider faster especially during emergencies. Customers will have the option to choose their preferred medical personnel. Customers also have the option of having their prescribed medication being delivered to their doorstep. What is WellnessHub? From doctors to nurses to pharmacists to physical therapists. With this variety, patients are assured of finding solutions to their medical problems. However, the wellness hub doesn’t offer eye and dental services.You may wonder how we are going to get access to all these medical personnel. By targeting hospitals and pharmacies in the areas, the idea is pitched and interested personnel only have to pay a subscription fee to have access to the WellnessHub platform. There are many ways by which patients can have access to these readily available personnel. It could either be through our chat forum or by video consultation. For more urgent situations in person consultation is even availabe,. The WellnessHub platform is user friendly and with the consumers in mind a lot of options are available. Consumers can choose from available hospitals in their vicinity, pharmacies near them , at home care , video and clinic consultation and different payment options. For the chat forum , after patients are connected to medical personnel they text their symptoms and are asked follow up questions. They ae either then prescribed drugs or asked to come for a clinical consultation. We at Wellness Hub are accessibility friendly and have a voice reader for the visually and physically impaired. Winnie, our very own siri reads aloud the options and helps in navigation of the app OUR FRAMEWORK For the pharmacies option after patients have had their consultation doctors directly send prescriptions to the closest pharmacy and with a touch of a button they are able to view the drugs prescribed and their prices. With the use of a third party payment system payments(Mobile Money and Visa Card Payments) can be made and drugs can either be picked up or delivered to a location of the patient’s choice TARGET MARKET AND STATISTICS IN AS MUCH IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL TO EXPAND THE SCOPE OF THE APP,WELLNESS HUB IS CURRENTLY FOCUSED ON KNUST AND ITS ENVIRONS. THERE ARE ABOUT 20 PHARMACIES AND 20 HOSPITALS CATERING TO A POPULATION OF ABOUT 80,000 PEOPLE. FROM THIS ONE CAN ESTIMATE A RATIO OF 1:4,000 FOR HOSPITALS AND 1:4,000 FOR PHARMACIES. WITH WELLNESSHUB APP, IT REDUCES THE PRESSURE OF THE HOSPITALS HAVING AT LEAST 1000 PEOPLE TROOP IN. WELLNESS HUB AND THE COMMUNITY However great the app may be there is a need for the community to adopt the idea for its success. This can be done by 1. Organizing seminars to educate necessary stakeholders on the importance and convenience of telehealth care 2. Organizing blood drives and community outreaches to create awareness 3. Get endorsement from respectable people in the community HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE? As we are now in the planning stages, there need to be reasonable time for the app to be developed and for the community to be comfortable with the idea. As such a duration of about a year is proposed to get the app running and on its feet. The designing of the app will take about six months. Implementation however, will be in phases with the initial stages being to register the medical personnel. This will take about a month to two to do so. The duration will also be used to educate the society of the benefits of this innovation and to get all on board. After, a pilot implementation with only the first year students of KNUST to test the application will be done. This will be used to correct any and all bugs before it is released to the general public. The app will bring together qualified medical practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and physician assistants, who will render medical services to people seeking medical attention and advise. This will be a 24 hours service . Users of the app will have to log on to the platform to choose a hospital near the users vicinity to consult a doctor to seek medical advise and if there is a need for medical attention, a medical team from the hospital in that vicinity will go to the location of the user for treatment . If medicines are prescribed after consultations doctors send prescriptions directly to the closest pharmacy , the list of the medications prescribed pops up on the users screen with billed amount that can be paid through easy payment methods such as Mobile money transfers and Visa or Master card payments.
