Monkeys are like people in many ways. In fact, some of them even go to college. A monkey college in
Boston, Massachusetts, teaches some monkeys to become helpers for disabled people. They chose capuchin
monkeys to be their "students" for a few reasons. Firstly, they are very smart. Secondly, they have very
short tails. So, unlike other monkeys, they use their hands just like people do. Thirdly, these monkeys
can live up to 40 years and get along well with humans. The monkeys at the college begin their training
when they are only a few months old. They start to learn simple things such as bringing food or picking
things up. Training monkeys is usually interesting but difficult. They can do more complicated things
after several years of training. Most owners say their monkeys are not just helpers but also good friends.

It almost seems too hard to believe, but there is a banana that can be eaten with peel. Peel is a cover
on a banana. Most people would never think of eating the peel of a banana. However, banana farmers in
Japan have created a special technique for growing bananas with a peel we can eat. Farmers in Okayama,
in the west of Japan, keep their banana trees at a freezing cold temperature of −60◦ Celsius. The farmers
then replant the trees in 27◦ Celsius. The huge change in temperature makes the tree suddenly grow too
quickly for the peel to become hard. This makes the skin thin, soft and sweet enough to eat. The new
variety of banana is called the "Mongee". Farmers are now selling it in small bunches of 10 bananas. They
are not cheap. The farmers have not grown a lot of Mongee bananas, so the price is high. They want to
grow more so they can sell them all over the world. This means the price will come down.
23. According to the passage, who created a special
technique in Japan?
A) pupils B) scientists
D) farmers
25. All of the following statements are TRUE,
EXCEPT. . . .
C) advertisers
A) The price of Mongee will lower.
B) Farmers sold only ten bananas.
C) A new kind of banana has an eatable peel.
24. According to the passage, what makes the banana
peel not become hard?
D) Farmers freeze banana trees at −60◦ C.
26. According to the passage, why do Mongee
bananas have high price?
A) a price of a Mongee banana
B) a change in temperature
A) As they have many useful vitamins.
C) a small bunch of a banana
B) As they are grown in small amount.
D) a group of special chemicals
C) As they have very delicious taste.
D) As they are planted in cold climate.

Spiders are not insects. They are actually invertebrates which mean animals without backbones. All
spiders have eight legs and poisons. Spiders can live on every continent except Antarctica. There are
over 44,000 known kinds of spiders. Spiders are found in every hole of houses. Spiders are unique among
animals that many of them spin webs out of silk. The webs catch insects to be eaten later. Larger spiders,
such as wolf spiders, huntsman, and tarantulas, attack insects rather than spin webs. Most spiders eat
insects, but some of them such as tarantulas and larger spiders will eat small lizards as well. Many people
fear spiders. Most spiders, however, are totally harmless to humans and are actually useful because they
eat other insects or pests. Even the largest tarantula, the Goliath - bird eating spider, is harmless to
humans. It is said that a tarantula’s bite is about as painful as a bee’s sting. Some spiders, however, such
as the black widow spider, are dangerous to humans. Their bite can kill people within a few days without
immediate medical attention.
