I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a. Infer that that living things reproduce;
b. Identify the observable characteristics being passed on from parents to offspring; and
c. Appreciate the traits inherited from parents.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities

The teacher will show pictures and the learners will clap their hands once if it’s a
living thing and stomp their feet if it’s a non-living thing.
B. Motivation
Who among you looks like your father? Mother?
Who among you doesn’t look like your parents?
How do you feel about it?
The teacher will show pictures of the different parts of the face, hair and skin
color and the learners will raise their flag if they inherited these from their father
or mother.
C. Lesson Proper
Every living thing produces offspring that are similar to him or her through
sexual and asexual reproduction. You inherit the physical characteristics from your
parents. Sometimes, you may not look like your parents. You may look like your
grandparents because they are a part of your family too.
Genes are contained in the egg cell that comes from the mother and sperm cell of
the father. They do different works like determine the color of your eyes and your hair.
This is what we call heredity. It affects your growth and the color of your hair, skin, and
shape of your eyes, nose, and mouth. Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) is a very important
molecule that acts like a blueprint of your body. It was discovered by James Watson and
Francis Crick in 1953.

Write true on the line if the statement is correct. Write false if the statement is wrong.

A.Answer the following questions.
1. List the traits that your parents inherited from your grandparents.
2. What are the traits that you acquire from your parents?
3. Make a simple prayer thanking God for the characteristics that you have.
