Title: To investigate if bread takes longer to rise on cold days than on hot days
Problem Statement:A baker notices that he bakes less bread on cold days than on hot days as dough takes
longer to rise on cold days. A worker suggested that the yeast does not seem to work fast enough on cold
days. Suggest a hypothesis based on the worker’s suggestion and design an experiment to test your
hypothesis.
Hypothesis: If the yeast is kept at a lower temperature, it will take longer to rise than if it is kept at a
higher temperature.
Apparatus: ¼ teaspoon of dry active yeast, 1 cup of water about 110°F, 2 cups of flour

Dissolve yeast in a dish of water
In another bowl whisk together half of the flour
Add wet ingredients to the bowl and mix well
Combine the wet ingredients with yeast to make a dough
The dough must be separated equally by weight into halves
Each ½ is to be placed at the required temperature for 60 minutes after which you check the height
Height must be noted at the start

Precaution:
1. Tie long hair back
2. Made sure that kitchen counter is clean before setting up the experiment
