ACTIVITY: KNOW ME! ● The class will be grouped into 4 which is by row. ● The teacher will ask the students to paste on the board a can cause stress and (smile) if it is not. Situations will be presented and dictated twice before they will paste their reactions on the board. I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, at least 90% of the students will be able to: a. Discuss eustress and distress; b. Write distress and eustress situations that they have experienced; and c. Value the importance of identifying situations that can cause stress. b. ANALYSIS: The teacher will ask some questions after the activity. 1. What is the activity all about? 2. What have you observed on the situations? 3. Which of those situations you think causes stress to a person? 4. What do you think is our topic for today? c. ABSTRACTION The teacher will discuss the Eustress and Distress. For you, what is stress? Response or reaction of our brain to certain situation which causes mental tension. Is stress bad for you? Stress is not always a bad thing because something that is stressful for you may not be stressful to others which is categorized as having a positive and negative one. Where do you think is the positive and negative effect belongs? Distress (negatively affects you) Eustress (positively affects you) What do we mean by stressor? things or situations that triggers us it can either be a threat or challenge Unpleasant – Discomfort, unhappy to certain things What do you feel after finishing your homework or projects? Positive – relief, achieved goals, happy, motivated, focused Depletes energy (consumes energy, feel tired) Energized (feel motivated, increase focus and concentration) Why does the performance decreases if you are distressed? Feeling tired, exhausted How will you cope up with stress? Exercise, do recreational activities, artworks How does having a vacation affects our mental health? Relax, relief, increase focus, able to reflect Who can differentiate the eustress and distress? Why is it important to identify situations that can cause stress? You can take steps to reduce or avoid them. It's important to recognize what situations cause stress so that we can take healthy action to address them. Know what strategies to apply, how we are going to cope up d. APPLICATION The activity will be done individually. The teacher will ask the students to write 2-3 distress and eustress situations that they have experienced in a ½ crosswise paper. They will be given 10 minutes to finish the activity.
