Republic of the Philippines POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY OF PHILIPPINES Sta. Mesa, Manila Name: Course/Year/Section: BSPSY 1-2 Reflection Paper “Every day we experience multitudinous moments; if we observe and reflect on these experiences, we can achieve prodigious learning”. The story follows an alien who becomes stuck on Earth after his remote for contacting his spacecraft to come and fetch him is stolen as soon as he lands. The rest of the film follows his search for the remote, as well as his experiences and lessons learned along the way. Pk has studied the ways of the world and now questions everything, challenges every notion, and fights for what he believes is right. He learned everything through his experiences; he learned that he needed clothing to exist and that he needed money to buy food, etc. In short, he learned how to survive in this world. Pk has never learned to talk since, in their world, everyone communicates through telepathy. As a result, they are unable to lie or engage in any type of deception. Unfortunately, this innocent alien became lost in a land of lies and heartless humans. Despite this, he found two individuals who genuinely helped him and whom he can trust. When you continually experiencing lies around you it’s hard to trust, but Pk is smart didn’t hesitate because he know he knows who to trust. Bhairon is one of the guys that befriended him to the point where they refer to each other as brothers. When he accidently hit PK with his motorcycle, he wanted to abandon him, but his conscience won out, and he did his best to assist Pk. Jagat Janani was another person who helped Pk; she was the first to learn of Pk's story, but she thought he was mentally ill until he proved to her that he wasn't lying. It’s just sad that they are both didn’t end up to stay in pk’s life; Bhairon died, Jaggu united with Sarfaraz, and he needs to go back to their planet. He didn’t tell Jaggu what his feeling because his love is enough to let her go. In my perspective, the film covers a wide range of issues, but one stands out above the others, and that is the topic of religion. Our different religious ideas are one source of human misunderstandings, according to PK. Every religion has its own set of traditions and beliefs, which leads to misunderstanding and conflict. The film is not a religious attack, but rather a reminder of humanity's attitude and actions. That we must be able to tolerate one other's viewpoints notwithstanding our disagreements. We may follow various religions, but we are all people at the end of the day. Respect and understanding are essential for us to accept one other better.
