March 2023 Sa'aiki'somm Pronounced: Sah-aah-ghee-soom Sa’áí (Sah-ahh) is how you say "duck" in Blackfoot. The lunar month of March is therefore known as the Duck Moon which signifies the return of the ducks as well as many other waterfowl to Blackfoot country. Noticing the changes in nature as the season changes is Indigenous knowledge. If you can, take some time in nature to notice some of the changes happening, and to give gratitude. And, if you notice the ducks this month welcome them back with an "OKI Sa’áí!"
