The City of Blackfoot is located in southeastern Idaho, only 25 minutes from Idaho State
University and within an easy drive of Yellowstone National Park. Blackfoot is the county seat
of Bingham County, home of the Eastern Idaho State Fair and is also known as the Potato

POSITION SUMMARY: Working under the direct supervision of the Wastewater Laboratory
Manager, and under the general supervision of the Wastewater Superintendent, the primary
function of an employee in this position is to perform a variety of chemical, biological and
bacteriological tests and analyses of wastewater, industrial waste and related samples. They
will also be responsible for maintaining records of testing, analysis, chain of custody and other
related information, as well as reporting results to the appropriate wastewater treatment staff to
enable compliance with Federal, State, County, City and other applicable public health
environmental and safety standards. The individual in this position may also test the City of
Blackfoot culinary water supply and perform other job related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:




High School Diploma, or GED equivalent
Must be currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning, and in the process of
obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Environmental
Sciences or a related field.
Must demonstrate strong organizational, computer and communication skills, both
written and verbal
Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, stamina and balance to work in an office,
laboratory and wastewater treatment plant environment
