DRAWING A PICTURE
Drawing a picture can help solve a problem. A picture helps visualize a problem
and makes it easier to determine relevant facts and important relationships.
Example
It takes 5 minutes to saw through a log. How long will it take to cut the log into 10
pieces?
Solution
From the picture, you can see that you have to saw 9 times in order to cut the log
into 10 pieces.
So, 9 × 5 minutes = 45 minutes.
