Apple, based in Cupertino, CA, is one of the most valuable companies in the world. It produces
popular digital gadgets, including Macs, iPods, iPhones, and iPads. The company was founded in
1976 by two young hackers, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Its second product, the Apple II, was
the first personal computer to achieve mass-market success. The Macintosh, released in 1984,
introduced the modern graphical user interface to the mainstream.
Apple began to struggle after its board ousted Steve Jobs from the company in 1985. When Jobs
returned to Apple in 1997, it was close to bankruptcy. Then Jobs led a spectacular recovery,
introducing the iPod in 2001, the iPhone in 2007, and the iPad in 2010. The result: Apple earned
almost $40 billion in profits in its 2014 fiscal year. Jobs died of pancreatic cancer in 2011. Since
then, the company has been led by Tim Cook, Jobs's long-time deputy. Apple has been a Silicon
Valley trend-setter for almost four decades. - Vox Media (By Timothy B. Lee, 2015)

1) What is the Organization design style applied by Apple? (2 marks) - Based on the video
provided.
According to the films, organisational design and the accompanying leadership model play a
critical role in driving Apple's innovative success and style, including functional structure,
organisational structure, and leadership model.
2) Highlight what are the TWO (2) views of the Apple structure? Explain each of them
properly (4 marks) - Based on the video provided.
I.
The business works in a market marked by fast technology advancement and
upheaval. General managers are unlikely to be able to predict whichever technologies
and designs will perform, therefore they must rely on the expertise and intuition of
technical experts.
II.
If cost and price goal were the only factors influencing design and engineering
decisions, Apple's promise to provide the best products available would be
jeopardised. Instead, R&D directors must balance user benefits with financial
considerations.
3) Discuss FIVE (5) reasons why businesses need a really good and systematic
organizational design/structure?
I.
Businesses may benefit from simplifying their processes. Corporate owners, directors, and
managers, for example, are frequently in charge of organising business functions into
departments that may carry out a variety of business activities. The split of firm functions into
departments ensures that actions are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Businesses
can save money by reducing the number of related business procedures done by several
divisions.
II.
Assist in the improvement of your corporate decision-making process. The quantity of
information received by a business owner, director, or management in a timely manner
frequently influences business choices. Organizational structures can be designed to improve
overall information flow from front-line activities to managers in charge of business
decisions. Executive-level management may transmit information to managers or employees
in charge of operating the Company's operations using organisational structure channels.
For example, Apple company wanted to launch a new Iphone12 after 6 month launch
Iphone11. As a owner of the company he will know when to launching and the information
must deliver to the management and organization first with clear and regarding of the new
product must giving fully understanding to among of management team and the whole HQ.
III.
As a big businesses grow and develop, they will launch several websites in local, regional, or
national financial markets. Organizational systems assist business owners in establishing a
control chain to ensure that all business locations adhere to the enterprise's current operating
practices. Because the entrepreneur may not be able to visit every website on a regular basis,
business owners rely on organization methods.
For example, Apple products are sold all over the world, so it requires a headquarters (HQ) in
each the United States and the United Kingdom to maintain the high-satisfactory and quantity
of merchandise and complete fill demand. Although it may lose control in terms of the
proprietors' control and display each store, the HQ plays a critical role in the operation
structure.
IV.
Employees may experience an induction phase in which they learn about the company's
organisational structure. This method advises employees about which supervisors may make
certain choices and where they should submit material for approval. Organizational structures
can also be designed with some flexibility in order to add additional divisions or personnel
without overburdening a company's manager.
For example, as a big company they are very particulars on maintain the quality of product
and services so to ensure who ever person be part of Apple family they wanted the best and
under right such as provide a good training before join this company and do a briefing every
time start the operation by superior to make sure the employee under motivated during work
and follow the company rules.
V.
Organizational structures that are well-defined must be able to dedicate more time to
customer service rather than operational problems. Better customer service may help firms
react to client inquiries or queries regarding goods or services. Companies may also focus on
increasing sales revenues and profits from company operations by meeting consumer wants
and wishes.
For example, as a employee he/she must know and understand their position as a sales person.
Others, the ‘commission’ as a motivation for them to achieved more and gain more for sales
market this would giving a good impact to company whereby increase the company profit
