W1 Annotated Bibliography Kotter, J. P., & Schlesinger, L. A. (2008). Choosing strategies for change. Harvard Business Review. https://hbr.org/2008/07/choosing-strategies-for-change In this article, Kotter and Schlesinger provide a brief discussion of organizational change, including identification of common resistance to change, ways to overcome these resistances, examples of strategies for approaching change along with factors that affect these strategic decisions, and the implications for organizational leaders. Their main argument is that change is a necessary part of all organizations, although it is often carried out incorrectly or avoided altogether. Thus, their goal is to share practical ways for leaders to manage change within their organizations. Kottler and Schlesinger’s article provides valuable insight that all managers would be welladvised to implement into their own organizations. As discussed in other literature (“Managing Change”, 2021), change is an unavoidable part of all organizations, but it also can be and should be managed effectively for the benefit of all those involved. Not only can these strategies for managing change be applied to individuals in leadership roles, but they can also be helpful for those of us in lower levels of employment. As a young professional, understanding the necessity of change and ways it can be effectively managed can help provide patience and support for those in management roles that I work for. Then, in the future when I have a higher leadership role, I will have both knowledge and experience dealing with change. Not only this, but these principles and ideas can also be applied in my personal life as well. References Managing Change. (2021). New York, NY: McGraw Hill. ISBN: 9781307728125
