You will be assessed on your 3D SCULPTURE of any ANIMAL’S HEAD. Requirements: 1. You will be required to work on your own. 2. Size-The Sculpture of your animal’s head should be approximately the size of an A5 book /or something that would be manageable to carry to school. 3. Materials/Tools/Equipment needed: You may use clay/play dough or any material of your choice to mould your sculpture. If you are using clay, you must allow your sculpture to dry and then paint the head according to your choice of animal. If you are using play dough, different colours of the dough may be used. You will need the following tools/resources to depict details on the animal’s face Sharp stick Comb Toothpick Toothbrush Feather Shells Buttons may be used to depict eyes Cardboard/or any recyclable material can be used to enhance facial features Method: 1. Wedge the clay/play dough into a ball. 2. Start by making the basic shape or form. Don’t forget the facial feature ie. Ears/eyes/tongue/teeth/nose 3. Thinks about the texture and how you would show rough areas and smooth areas on the face. 4. Add details to your sculpture by scratching it or pricking it with a small stick or by pressing a feather or other tools into the surface. 5. You may also add on other things to depict the details of the animal’s face. E.g buttons for the eyes 6. You may also scratch your initials in small letters on the bottom of your artwork. 7. Leave the sculpture to dry or settle and the you can paint it if it has no colour.
