Theme: The connections of Lexicology with other branches of Linguistics.
Aim: To define the object of Lexicology, aims and problems.
Assignments:
1. Comment on the subject-matter of lexicology as a branch of linguistics.
2. Confirm the statement that lexicology should be viewed in relation to the
levels of linguistic structure.
3. Give comments on syntagmatic and paradigmatic relationships of words
revealed in vocabulary studies.
4. Give illustrative examples to show that the lexical meaning of the word is
very often signaled by the grammatical context in which it occurs.
