CHAPTER 6 & A LITTLE
MAYBE IN 7 & 5
IF OUR TEACHER ALLOWED ME
ETHICS AND PROFESSIONALISM OF
EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
INTRODUCTION
In the previous chapters emerging technologies like
 Big data
 Artificial intelligence
 Internet of things
 Augmented reality
After having a discussion on all of the above emerging technologies, it is time to study
o their connection with our ethical values as well as social values.
In this chapter, the connection of emerging technologies with professional ethics, privacy,
accountability, trust was discussed. Finally, the threats and challenges of emerging technologies will
be explained.
Big data
AI REPLY TO “WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENT” BY>>
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that aims
to create intelligent machines that can think and act like humans. AI
systems are designed to learn from their environment, recognize
patterns, and make decisions based on the data they receive. AI can
be used to automate tasks, solve complex problems, and provide
insights into data that would otherwise be difficult or impossible
for humans to interpret.
IOT
• Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of physical objects
(devices, vehicles, buildings, etc.) that are connected to the
internet and can collect and exchange data. These objects can
be anything from a refrigerator to a heart monitor.
VIRTUAL REALITY (VR) is a computer-generated simulation of a 3Dmodels
environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way
AUGMENTED REALITY (AR) is a technology that superimposes digital content,
such as 3D models, text, images, and videos, onto the real world how??...

➢ What do you think the need for ethics in data science? Is it
really important to include ethical rules when dealing with big
data?
General ethical
1. Contribute to society and to human well-being, acknowledging that all people
are stakeholders in computing.
2. Avoid harm.
3. Be honest and trustworthy.
4. Be fair and take action not to discriminate
5. Respect the work required to produce new ideas, inventions, creative works,
and computing artifacts.
6. Respect privacy.
7. Honor confidentiality
Professional responsibilities.
1. Strive to achieve high quality in both the processes and products of professional work.
2. Maintain high standards of professional competence, conduct, and ethical practice.
3. Know and respect existing rules pertaining to professional work.
4. Accept and provide appropriate professional review.
5. Give comprehensive and thorough evaluations of computer systems and their impacts, including
analysis of possible risks.
6. Perform work only in areas of competence.
7. Foster public awareness and understanding of computing, related technologies, and their
consequences.
8. Access computing and communication resources only when authorized or when compelled by the public
good.
