Honors Class ONLY (Mrs. Ragland’s Class) This is the instruction sheet for the Character Analysis in Part B. Overview: Take a second look at Amy Tan’s “Two Kinds” and analyze a character in the story. Prompt: Choose to review carefully the mother or daughter in the story. What can you infer about this individual based on what you have read? Requirements: Write a full essay with an introduction, at least 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Here are some tips to receive full credit: Be sure your introduction includes a thesis making a claim about the mother or daughter’s personality. Be sure to use RACES to develop your body paragraphs and cite evidence from the story to support your points. Think about STEALN (to determine what’s important about the character). In-text citations will be (Tan) for all. If you use an outside resource for help, you would need to include in-text citations and a Works Cited. All of the information you need should be found inside the story, however. Edit your essay for grammatical correctness before submitting it. If you need help, reach out to your teacher through messages.
