7. SAFETY PROMOTION
7.1.0 Objective
The objective of safety promotion is to develop and maintain awareness among
all personnel, of the work site’s commitment to safety, and of the individual’s
responsibility to support that commitment.
KANDENKO recognizes that the promotion of safety is a valuable way of
advancing the culture of safety in the workplace and of reinforcing the concept
that safety and production are inseparable.
As a very basic approach towards safety promotion, Site Project Management
shall put up safety signs, posters, and other safety related newsletters or articles
at appropriate locations (such as notice board, canteen and workshops etc.) to
educate and remind workers in the plant and worksite, always to be safety
conscious. Video shows on safety awareness or training will be shown to workers
to enhance their safety awareness and knowledge from time to time.
The company will ensure that records for all safety promotional activities are
properly documented and maintained.
7.2.0
Promotional Program
The company will develop promotional programs aimed at clearly demonstrating
the company’s commitment to establishing an effective safety management that
will provide and maintain a safe working environment.
Approach
The promotional activities will include:a. the display of the company’s safety policy, in its marketing, publicity material,
business plans and safety handouts to be issued to all personnel.

Recognition of Safety Performance
In the factory
Worker of the month award will be nominated by the individual floor supervisors
and presented to the chairman during the monthly safety coordination meeting.
Upon the agreement that the worker deserved the award, he will receive a
certificate titled “worker of the month” and awarded a $5 voucher.
At site / factory
During site/factory visits by the safety officer and/or asst safety officer, the safety
coordinator at site will inform of the workers that have been working safely and
ensuring safe work conditions around him.
There will be an implementation of safety badges that will be given to workers.
This tag can be worn to show his fellow colleagues that he has been a good
example of safety.
Upon the accumulation of 2 safety badges, he can exchange it for a $5 voucher
to be get at the safety deparment.
