also serve as a means of informal assessment and provide you with information to dictate further
teaching and learning.

Activity
1. Place the 24 task cards around the classroom. Students can work individually, in pairs, or in
small groups to identify the sentence kind (simple, compound, complex). They record their
responses on the Recording Sheet.
2.
Students have the option to check their answers using the Answer Sheet or by scanning the
QR Codes to reveal the answers.

kind and loving
girl.
Even though Cinderella
worked very hard, her
stepmother did not like
her.
She worked hard,
yet she never
complained.
Cinderella’s two
step-sisters were
often mean to
her.

lazy.
The prince decided
to throw a ball for all
the people in the
kingdom.
After Cinderella had done
all the work, she would sit
by the fi replace and cry.
When the fairy
godmother saw
Cinderella crying, she
used her magic wand
to help her go to the
ball.

The fai ry godmother
waved her wand, and
Cinderella got a
beauti ful dress and
pretty glass sli ppers.
As soon as the fai ry
godmother waved her
wand, the pumpkin turned
into a beauti ful carriage.
The fai ry godmother
waved her ma gic wand
and turned the mice into
horses.
Once the mice turned
into horses, they were
prancing with joy and
excitement.

Cinderella rode to the ball
in her beauti ful carria ge.
Cinderella had never
been this happy in a
l ong ti me, and she
feared it would all end
too soon.
The prince couldn’t
take his eyes off
Cinderella, for he had
fallen in l ove with her.
As soon as the cl ock
struck twelve,
Cinderella had to leave
the ball and rush home.

glass sli pper came
l oose.
The two mean
sisters tried on
the glass sli pper,
but it didn’t fit.
The prince had fallen
in l ove with Cinderella
and sent his men to
find her.

to push her foot
inside the sli pper.

sli pper, but it would not
fit any of them.
The prince and
Cinderella li ved happily
ever a fter.
When it was Cinderella's
turn, the glass sli pper fit
per fectly.
If it was not for the fai ry

wand, this story would not
have had a happy ending.
