Taslima Begum (29) Husband: Monir Hossen (33). Taslima Begum is younger among
her five brothers and four sisters. Their family’s had 16 members. Her father & elder
brother worked as a farmer for driving their family. Taslima read in class-X. Then she
didn’t continue her study for their economic deficiency.
Taslima begum and her elder sister made handicraft product to help financially for their
family. Taslima Begum was a member of ‘Harbaid Kodalia Hastashilpa Mohila Samity’
which was directed by CORR-the jute works. They made rope and sika by jute. Her elder
sister maintained all responsibility of this samity. Suddenly her elder sister died on 2009
and the activities were stopped for the lacking their regular communication. Then
Taslima Begum was searching for another way to earn money. In the mean time she
heard about “Mirerbazar Sewing Center” from a worker of CORR-The Jute Works. Then
she took training to operate electric sewing and bag from this center. After the training
she worked this center regularly from 2011 She got 4,000 taka per month and helped her
family.
In 2015 Taslima Begum got married with Monir Hossen. Monir Hossen work in
garments. She lives in Harbaid, Gazipur with her husband, father-in-law & mother-in-law
in a rented house. After marriage she has saved her some money which she has earned.
She has bought a sewing machine by 3500 taka by from her saving. At her holiday and
leisure time she makes cloths which are ordered by local women. She can earn around
1000 taka in a month from local order. She bought 2 decimals land by her saving 40,000
tk and loan 6, 00,000 taka. She return loan as 4000 taka per month from her earning and
use the balanced taka for her family. At present she earns average 7,500 taka.
Taslima Begum’s dream that after finish her loan back she will build with brick house in
her own land. She is very grateful to CORR-The Jute Works to give her an opportunity
for trainings and Job. She says that “I get my salary and ration money in time. We never
do any commotion here for salary. Here working environment is very nice and we work
with very cheerful mind.
