Verbals are verb forms (words that
look like verbs or could be verbs in other
sentences) that are used as one of the
following:
noun
adjective
adverb
NOTE: A verbal can never be
the verb in the sentence.

INFINITIVES
An INFINITIVE is "TO + Verb (base form of
the verb).
It functions as a noun, adjective, or adverb.
An infinitive is formed out of a verb, but it does
NOT act as a verb in a sentence.

REMEMBER!
Do not confuse an infinitive
with a prepositional phrase
introduced by the preposition
"to".
REMEMBER!
When the main word that
follows "to" is a noun or a
pronoun, "to" is a preposition
with the noun or pronoun as its
object. Together they form a
PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE.
Mr. White returns to the
fireside and sits down.
Fireside is the object of the
preposition "to"
Mrs. White runs to the window
and stands looking out.
Window is the object of the
preposition "to".
