Anti-Static Mats
An anti-static floor or ground mat is an anti-static device that
safeguards an individual or piece of equipment like a PC from an
electrostatic discharge (ESD). Computer components that are
sensitive to static electricity or ESD are motherboard, CPUs,
expansion cards and memory devices.
How Anti-static Mats work. A typical anti-static mat is comprised
of three layers. The top layer is a static dissipative vinyl that
discharges conductors; the middle layer is a conductive metal
sheet that provides the discharge path to ground, and the bottom
one is non-skid foam.
