1. After reading about Amy Winehouse’s turbulent life, I really admired her tough and resilient personality. Under the toxic critics about her drug use, Amy bravely confronted her critics with the song ‘No Rehab’, in which she proudly proclaimed that ‘there was nothing those critics could teach her’ and she needed no rehabilitation. In my opinion, Amy’s is surly authentic, and her works are true reflections of her real life. To name an example, after she broke up with her boyfriend, she created her top hit song ‘Back to Black’ based on this experience. Aside from its flawless rhythm and Amy’s otherworldly vocal techniques, Back to Black’s thought-provoking lyrics keeps reminding the society that Amy Winehouse is a truly authentic singer. 2. In the article ‘Find what you love and let it kill you’, the author James Rhodes appealed people to follow their inner wants in despite of the pressure brought by work, domesticity, and money. Therefore, I think James’ idea of chasing dreams and staying true to oneself is totally aligned with Amy Winehouse’s view of music. James will probably suggest Amy to be proud of her music and keep chasing her dreams. Personally, I wish Amy could resort to some other methods other than alcohol to relieve her anxiety. 3. Nowadays, it is not surprising at all to find a rap music video suffused with street violence and drug abuse. Many rappers are getting exceedingly obsessed with incorporating gang-elements into their music, which lead them to go astray from ‘being real.’ Take the notorious American rapper 6IX9INE as an example. In his past songs, his near constant flaunt of his luxuriant gangster life has drawn himself into serious troubles. However, he continued to display image of himself carry automatic weapons and publishes music videos containing provocative lyrics and hand gestures. This misleading prejudice caused rappers like 6IX9INE to overestimate the necessity of showing Gangster-life on the screen and restrained them from writing about their true feelings: his family, friends, or his personality. 4. There is hardly any better proof of Amy Winehouse’s authenticity than the stories told by people who had truly experience the same alcohol problem as Amy did. In the podcast, Lesley Jamison reflected on how Amy’s experience influenced her and finally helped her to abstain from alcohol. It is truly amazing to see how Amy using her authenticity to positively impact the society even she passed away. I think the podcast again proved Amy’s authenticity as a singer who is so connected to her music that made her life experience as impactful as her music talents.
