Mr. Richard Clements Ill is requesting a refund of late penalties paid in the amount of $106.36
for the above mentioned vehicle for 2017.
Mr. Clements stated that he did not receive the pre-bill till 9-21-17 due to the hurricane.
He did not register his vehicle until 9-22- 17.
All pre-bills are mailed out at least 30 days prior to due date. Mr. Clements tag was due by
midnight on his birthday which was 7-16-17. It states on all regi stration receipts "Your tag
expires at midnight on the expiration date printed on your Certificate of Registration"
(copy provided). The Office of Tax Commissioner was not negligent in the collection of late
fees for 2017 from Mr. Richard Clements III for said vehicle.

Law enforcement may fine or cite you if you do not transfer or purchase a
tag within seven (7) business days of buying/acquiring a vehicle from a
source other than a Georgia registered Dealer.
You may be ticketed by law enforcement and/or your vehicle towed if you
drive with an expired or suspended tag or decal.
If you don't maintain continuous liability Insurance coverage on this
vehicle, you will be subject to penalties and your vehicle's registration/tag
will be suspended.
A tag is issued to the owner of a vehicle. Please remove the tag it you sell
or transfer ownership of this vehicle. A new owner of this vehicle may not
use your tag.
When your insurance company or agent cancels this insur.ance for a
vehicle you sell or transfer, you must cancel the vehicle"s tag through your
County Tag Office at the same time to avoid insurance lapse penalties.
When you sell/transfer ownership ot a vehicle that ls required to be titled,
assign the original title to the new owner and give the title to the new owner
so the new owner can apply for a title and tag in the county in wl1ich he or
she lives within seven (7) business days of the sale.
