Activity 1: Chatflect ““Hurt people, hurt people. If people were hurt, you have the ability to cut the cord.” This, in my opinion, simply means that everyone who hurts you is doing so because they themselves have been hurt. People who were hurt were simply passing it on, but you have the ability to cut that cord and stop the pain from spreading. Consider human history and how nations have fought other nations for generations, and how those nations have fought another nation. This reflects Lakhiani's meaning behind the phrase "hurt people, hurt people." Despite this, we are able to forgive and move on. Forgiveness aids in dealing with the past. You feel empathy in that section. Opinion, according to Bill Bullard, is the lowest form of learning, while empathy is the highest. Empathy is the ability to see things from another person's perspective and truly try to understand them. Empathy is also one of the most powerful forms of intelligence we can cultivate. When we use empathy in our daily interactions, we become able to listen deeply to each other, expressing how we feel, what our prejudices and deep-rooted perceptions are without judging them. This alone could help avoid conflicts and hurting others.
