Questions:
1. What is repetition in art and why do artists use repetition in their art?
Repetition is the recurrence of a particular pattern, line, shape, or other elements in
a single or part of the series. Artists use repetition in their art to comment on what
is going on in the world and to challenge the public to slow down the race for the
achievement of consumerism gods and idols. Repetition is used by. Artists to build a
sense of tension if no variations are implemented and it is often in the subtle detail
that the key to the understanding of such pieces lies.
2. In the article they state, "Early avant-garde artists were the first ones that started
repeating exactly the same motifs without emphasizing the goal of getting more
proficient at painting, but instead striving for other intentions." Give two example of
these artists and their work, which is NOT discussed in the article. (Discover works

3. It isn't mentioned in the article, but why did Andy Warhol use repetition in his
work? (research)
According to Warholian repetition and the viewer’s affective response to artworks
from his Death and Disaster Series, the article says that Andy Warhol used
repetition in hi work to show that the more you. Look at something the emptier you
feel. Like the meaning is something that is repeated or viewed in repetition fades.
