Esto vir!, which translates to "be a man!" is directly linked to the courage, and that courage will drive a person to face challenges in a more fearless manner. It is also somewhat connected with endurance and resilience which was demanded by the current state of society in that era where manpower was of absolute necessity. Eons have passed and society still holds this way of thinking as the norm, which have also proven to be destructive to society itself, a consequence of human act. Men grew up to keep their emotions to themselves and to be "sturdy". Thus, creating a culture where many men are unfeeling and therefore have difficulties in understanding another human being. Women and men alike suffer due to this idea passed on from ancient times. It led to a distorted view where people would assign gender norms towards certain likes, hobbies, and professions wherein having feminine traits as a male or actually just being a female is looked down upon.
