Course Title
Understanding the Self
The course focuses on determining the nature of identity. It also emphasizes on
the factors and forces that is affecting the maintenance and development of
personal identity.
The direction in Knowing Oneself has lead to many and varied ways. The
question “Who am I?” Being the most controversial and that many have
sought to answer.
This course is aimed to explore the issues and queries about one’s self and
identity to have a better understanding of one’s individuality. This would be
achieved by focusing on the integration of one’s personal life with the
academic life---processing classroom discussions and relate it to daily
experiences which would result in better learning and have a new perspective
in the appreciation of the learning process. This course would also develop
reflective and critical attitude to enable students manage and improve
themselves and have a better life quality of life.

The objectives of this course are to completing this course, the student must be able to:
CO1. Evaluate primary sources for their credibility, authenticity, and provenance.
CO2. Analyze the context, content, and perspective of different kinds of primary sources.
CO3. Determine the contribution of different kinds of primary sources in Understanding the Self
CO4. Develop critical and analytical skills with exposure to primary sources.
CO5. Demonstrate the ability to use primary sources to argue in favor or against a particular issue.
CO6. Effectively communicate, using various techniques and understand the process of self-evaluation to promote
improvements
CO7. Propose recommendations/solutions to present-day problems based on their understanding of root causes and
their anticipation of future scenarios.
CO8. Display the ability to work in a team and contribute to a group project.
