Research Paper Proposal
1. My topic for the research paper will be focusing on the conspiracy theory that the NASA
Apollo moon landings were faked despite being titled the most astounding achievement
in human history. Conspiracists believed that NASA forged faked the landings to
accomplish President John F. Kennedy’s goal of landing a man on the moon and
returning him safely to the Earth. Aside from accomplishing that goal, they believed that
NASA fabricated this to trump the space race against the Soviets. Conspiracy theorists
also insist that the entire mission was a hoax, produced at the Area 51 Air Force testing
range in Nevada or on a Hollywood movie soundstage. In this research, I will be looking
into whether the moon landing happened or was just a “hoax” just like according to many
people. Other things than that, I will be also examining the claims by the conspiracists,
and the corresponding responses from NASA. (Make sure to focus on the scientific
evidence that the moon landing happened as the world watched. You can offer bogus
evidence and then debunk it.)

2. Research: I will be making use of popular sources and scholarly journals as information
to answer the questions I have posted. I will provide information on the moon landing
and how conspiracy theories formed. All of the information that will be stated will only
revolve around the moon landing conspiracies, how all the conspiracies started, and
uncountable evidence that proves the moon landing is not fake.
3. Thesis: Proponents of moon landing conspiracies are pointing out that there are many
contradicting pieces of evidence that make the moon landing a hoax. To be fair, all the
presented arguments when looked at as a whole does seem powerful and believable, but
in reality, everything can be explained by science. All the arguments can lead to the
unraveling of how conspiracy theories are formed, why people believe in these types of
conspiracies, and the science behind the people did land on the moon. (excellent thesis.)
