10th Grade CONFLICT RESOLUTION Definition A conflict is a situation in which people disagree strongly or are involved in in a serious argument. Conflict resolution is the informal or formal process that two or more people use to find peaceful solution to their dispute. Some conflicts are essentially arbitrary, meaning, it doesn’t matter who “wins”, only that the problem is resolved. Usually involves issues with coworkers, employees work assignments, can also include disputes about how to divide resources, judgements and interpretation of facts. ● Relationship Conflict: These conflicts arise from personality, traits and conflict styles. It is also common in organizations since many workers who don't know each other are paired in assignments and usually end up having disputes. ● Value Conflict: Can be caused by fundamental differences in ideas and values. These include politics, religion, ethics and other deeply held beliefs. Erode the strength and satisfaction of relationships, and can even make people feel physically sick or in pain. Having to much conflict can lead to personal situations in which the people around you won’t feel comfortable.
