“The importance of being patient” Introduction (1 minute) Good morning, Ma’am Rizza, good morning classmates. I would like to share my knowledge and experience about being patient. First of all, what is patience? According to the Oxford Languages, it is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. Patience is one of life's most important characteristics. It also may vary from person to person, depending on what they perceived or experienced about it. It's the ability to suppress annoyance or have tolerance with a slow learner for me. Body (3 minutes) In my experiences, I was the worst version of myself. Hot-tempered, fragile, mentally-unstable, neglecting studies, and more. I was very impatient. My past relationships didn’t work because of my impatience. I was a very cold person at times, sometimes moody, much worse than a woman having her period. As the time passed by, I gained knowledge, specifically in technology. As the pandemic started, knowledge about technology was demanded. Especially for those people who work for their family. My father doesn’t have the knowledge to work online, but he had no choice. In the first place, he should’ve asked me to teach him instead of passing his responsibility (which is setting up his online work setup on his own) to me. Teaching someone like him was very annoying, knowing that he has a toxic personality. Lack of patience stressed me out. This is just an example of me being impatient, it gives me stress, annoyance, restlessness, loss of temper, and irritation. These are all negative. These will bring out the worst version of yourself. In my experience, I reflected and realized what I should do. What I did was; practiced waiting, controlled my temper and voice tone, being understanding, and being a good listener. I am an observant person. I observe people at times, and sometimes see through themselves. By this, I learned that being patient improves my daily life. If it improves mine, for sure it will improve yours too. By doing this, practice and practice and practice. Practice makes perfect, and it will bring out the best version of yourself. In experiencing this, I also learned the importance of being patient. In our relationships, we can become defensive, upset, and say things that are hurtful to others. We underestimate the value of waiting and make hasty decisions as a result. By this, I learned that whenever you feel defensive toward someone, strive to be patient enough to consider the great aspects of another person. Learning how to be patient will surely help you acquire a positive attitude. And by this, you’re making your life happier. The key to this is being patient. Conclusion (1 minute) As expressed, one of the most important aspects of success is the ability to be patient. If you learn patience, you will reap many benefits, including personal growth, increased ability to obtain new insights and understanding, and the development of a strong character that will lead to a calm life. As a result, we should keep reminding ourselves of the proverb, "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet." Being patient is one of the keys to bringing out the best version of yourself. Don’t let yourself be stuck in negativity. Rather than being frustrated when things do not go as planned, you must learn to be patient. To live a happier life, you must see things and events in a positive perspective. And you must be patient in order to obtain that positivity. Be patient with things, with someone, and by this, things will work out. If it doesn’t work, try new things and be patient about it. As the Chinese Proverb said, “One moment of patience may ward off great disaster. One moment of impatience may ruin a whole life”. Patience is a talent that must be mastered, not just a personality attribute. As a result, cultivating a high level of patience is essential to living a happy life.
