How TOURISM supported ITALY’S ECONOMY - Significantly boosted the country’s economic recovery and employment rate (back to pre-pandemic levels) - The WTTC’s recent Economic Impact Report (EIR) also shows that the sector’s contribution to GDP next year could reach more than €194 billion - Expected to create more than half a million job opportunities in next 10 years (>53,000 new jobs each year) Negative Impacts of TOURISM on ITALY - Not environmentally sustainable →Caused an environmental crisis, due to mass tourism - Before the pandemic started, the total contribution to GDP was 10.6 per cent or 194.8B , thus falling to only 6.1 per cent or otherwise 102.6B in 2020, representing a painful loss of about 92B euro. ¡GRACIAS!
