Rogie Zorion J. Go CE_2I Reaction Paper Jose Rizal (1998) The movie Jose Rizal which was wonderfully done by the actor Cesar Montano as the major character was a comforting one that portrays how Rizal manages his life. The film goes via a succession of flashback depicting Rizal as a writer, a doctor, an artist, a lover, a friend, a brother, and a son which prompted him to regard as our national hero. It indicates how Rizal sincerely love his mother nation for him to sacrifice his own life. It covers the chronicles of his life from his boyhood to his death at the hands of the Spanish soldiers occupying the Philippines in the late 19th century. The movie portrays how Filipino struggle under the hands of Spaniards simply to fight for independence but Rizal didn't fight with violence but instead he battled with just his thoughts, pen and bits of paper. Because Rizal understands that employing violence against violence wouldn't accomplish anything it will simply generate more disputes. Rizal utilized pen as his weapon rather than sword in battling against the Spaniards government, he written it in novels and poems. The two novels he wrote Noli me tangere and El Filibusterismo, intended to raise his people's political understanding. This merely proves that the two works are reflections of the life of the Filipinos during the Spanish administration. But the concept and lofty principles of the book do not only exist in the past but also in the present exhibiting the universality and longevity of Rizal's thoughts. The lovely transition between Rizal's period and the location of the two novels is particularly stunning. The film made known the line of assault done by our heroes and countrymen to gain the independence of our land under the tyranny of the Spaniards friar and military power. There were a lot of prejudice and brutal treatment in Filipino on that era and it is the reason of the rebellions between Filipino and Spaniards. Even in school it was sensed by Rizal and other Filipino pupils. Many Filipinos were suffered. They were the servant of the Spaniards. The actors’ devotion for the film is unavoidable notably Cesar Montano who is very perfect for the role of Rizal. His values and amazing performance as the lead actor is perfect and has a big impression on me as the audience of the said picture. supporting characters like Jhong Hilario who played as Rizal's servant Also the Jaime Fabregas as Rizal's attorney did a terrific job on portraying their role effortlessly. They made it easy for me to understand the flow of the story. We as a Filipino citizen we must cherish and love our country like what our heroes done. We have to be appreciative to all our heroes who dedicated their life in order to obtain our independence and Rizal is one of the legacy of what a real Filipino is. Rizal did not die in vain. He did not die for nothing. He did not die defeated. Rather he died victorious because his death is the torch that lights Philippine independence that ignites Philippine Revolution. After viewing the film, I couldn't help but feel the sense of pride being him as the Philippine national hero. Let us salute our heroes for their contribution to our freedom.
