CEED Study Material What is CEED? The Common Entrance Examination for Design. commonly referred to as CEED, is the entrance exam conducted annually for design students and is one of the most important scores considered for admission in M.Des/PhD programmes across various prestigious institutions in India. Every year the exam takes place on the same date across IIT and IISc campuses in India, and the results of the test are valid for a period of one year. While some students choose to prepare for the exam on their own, many aspirants opt for coaching classes that have the right faculty and study material for CEED exam. CEED Exam pattern Though the questions vary every year based on current events and other similar circumstances, the pattern of the paper and the syllabus more or less remain the same, so there is definitely a lot of CEED entrance study material out there in the market, should aspirants wish to prepare on their own. Most of the centres that provide training for exam provide CEED study material as a part of the package. Roughly, the CEED exam can be divided into two parts – Part A and Part B. Part A goes on for one hour and Part B goes on for two hours. Part A does include negative marking and only those who clear Part A are eligible to attempt Part B of the CEED question paper. Part A – Part A is made of mostly objective-based questions, MCQs, as well as numerical answer questions. The exam is computerbased, so you will know immediately whether you are eligible to sit for Part B. Part A questions will be set to evaluate the candidates visual and spatial skills, their design aptitude, logical and analytical reasoning, social and environmental awareness, objective design sensitivity and their language skill as well. The entire exam will be in the English medium. Part B – This part deals more with the candidates writing and drawing skills. The questions will be shown on the computer screen, but unlike Part A, they will be answered on the written paper sheet, and not on the computer. At the end of the examination, the sheets will be collected by an invigilator at the venue.
