Dear Students, Parents/Guardians/Caregivers,
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the recent death of one of our Grade 11 students,
Yugesh Senthilrajan. I know you join with all of us in expressing our deepest condolences to the
grieving family on the heart-breaking loss they have suffered.
Yugesh was a kind, polite young person and was well-liked by students and teachers alike. He was
always very appreciative of extra help and was a willing contributor to group work. Yugesh was
also an enthusiastic athlete, and a great joy to his peers.
He will be sorely missed by all the lives he’s touched.
As you can appreciate, this is very difficult news for the Bloor CI community. Be assured that we will
do all that we can to help students who are upset and require support. Grief counsellors are
available and will remain for as long as needed should any students wish to speak with someone.
Should additional support or guidance be required, please contact the school. We do encourage
families to talk about this event in whatever way that is appropriate. The following are some
guidelines that might assist you in your conversation:
•
•
•
•
Allow children to express as much concern and grief as they wish.
Listen carefully to what your child is saying and respond appropriately.
Be empathetic. Remember your child’s grief responses and concerns may be different to
those of an adult.
Remember that the grief process and fear continue beyond the first day. It is not
uncommon for grief reactions to last several days and/or weeks.
The Bloor CI community will show our respect and support for the family according to their wishes.
Thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult time. As always, should you have
any questions or concerns please let us know.
Sincerely,
Janice Gladstone
