Amen. Amen. Dedication of Choir and Leaders To the leaders of God’s church in Hernando, MS in the Christian tradition of Methodism: Do you promise to serve with the gifts and graces given by the Holy Spirit so that the Good News of Jesus Christ may be proclaimed in and through the life of HUMC, and do you as a leader renew your vow of membership to love Christ and lead by loyal example through: the offering of your prayers; your presence in worship and ministering life of HUMC; your support of the ministry of HUMC with your finances; your service in your area of ministry responsibility; and your witness of faith both within and outside the walls of HUMC? We do, by the grace of God. To the choir and musicians: Do you promise to use your gift of song, of harmony, of weaving together instruments and voices as an offering to God of praise and thanksgiving? Will you accept the calling to assist in leading the worship of the risen Lord as you play, sing, and share your gift for music? We will, by the grace of God. To the congregation: Will you promise to enter into each service with the hope and expectation of meeting God whether it be through song, prayer, His Word, witness or time of silence? Will you seek to be present in body, soul, and spirit and fully participate in worship? Will you vow to live honestly as a transformed Christ-follower and respond faithfully to God as He leads? Will you reaffirm your vow of commitment to Christ and to Hernando United Methodist Church by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness? Will you carry out the ministry of Christ beyond the walls of HUMC in your heart, home, school, business, community, and world? We will, by the grace of God. * Prayer of Commitment: Almighty God, You have called us to be your people, to worship You in spirit and truth and to love you with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind. We offer ourselves for worship, for building up the Body of Christ and to serve as vessels carrying the hope of Jesus Christ to the world. Stir us to use our talents and voices for your glory. We pray the songs we sing will carry your message and deepen our faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. Bless those who give leadership to each ministry area and to all to find meaningful service through these areas. Bless all who will be touched by the love of Christ through Hernando United Methodist Church. Amen Hymn of Dedication “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace. Sharing Our Praises and Concerns The Morning Prayer The Choral Response The service may be viewed in the Fellowship Hall— ask ushers for assistance. Hymn of Hope “Victory in Jesus” #370 vs 1,2 I heard an old, old story, how a Savior came from glory, how he gave his life on Calvary to save a wretch like me; I heard about his groaning, of his precious blood’s atoning, then I repented of my sins and won the victory. Refrain: O victory in Jesus, my Savior forever! He sought me and bought me with his redeeming blood; he loved me ere I knew him, and all my love is due him; he plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. I heard about his healing, of his cleansing power revealing, how he made the lame to walk again and caused the blind to see; and then I cried, “Dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit,” and somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory. Refrain The Offertory Prayer The Offertory * The Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Him, all creatures here below; praise Him above, ye heavenly host praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. * Scripture Reading Joshua 24:14-18 14 “Now therefore revere the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods that your ancestors served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 Now if you are unwilling to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” 16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods; 17 for it is the Lord our God who brought us and our ancestors up from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and who did those great signs in our sight. He protected us along all the way that we went, and among all the peoples through whom we passed; 18 and the Lord drove out before us all the peoples, the Amorites who lived in the land. Therefore we also will serve the Lord, for he is our God.” Special Music “Come to the Water” “Come to the Water” Tommy & Theo (8:45) Chancel Choir (10:55) Message for Life The Choices Before Us Bro.
