Marilyn Chase wrote this article to describe Disney’s efforts to help America in World
War II, and to inform the audience about it. The audience is new readers who are new to the
subject. We can see that her target purpose was to inform through her explanation of words that
are foreign or new to the reader. After providing a name or detail she states their role or it’s
purpose afterwards to help inform the reader more about it. She also portrays her main idea in
this way, which was how Disney used their films and cartoons to show ways of patriotism. She
supports this idea using her different topics, first it was the political cartoon with the posters.
Then it talks about Disney designing emblems for the military and lastly their films they made
dehumanize the opposing countries. This is also how she uses and showcases her mediums, it is
different cartoons and videos of what Disney created. When the mediums are used also contrast
with what she said in the text, like when she talks about the videos they created she adds it under
the text.
