Babur
• He was the first ruler of the Mughal Empire
• He was born in Farghana in Uzbekistan
• He was the ruler of Farghana at the age of 12
• He had tried to conquer Samarkand but he failed, He tried to
conquer Kabul later in 1504 which he succeeded.
• At the time, the Delhi sultanate was ruled over by The Lodis. The
local rulers weren’t happy about it and asked Babur to come there
and defeat the Lodis.
Battle of Panipat
• In 1526 Babur faced Ibrahim Lodi in the Battle of Panipat. The Lodi
army was huge compared to Babur’s army, but Babur had good
calvaries and a lot of experience.
