Virtual Classroom
rules
The school year is starting with a very different classroom landscape,
and we have to adapt. Don’t feel like this is wasted time! If you spend time
on virtual rules at the beginning, as problems arise, and after school
breaks, there will be less problem behaviors during the rest of your
virtual school year!
Introduce
Introduce the rules slowly. Explain the rule in concrete terms to the
students, so they will understand what the rule is and what it looks like.
Practice, Practice, Practice
Provide MANY opportunities for students to practice the rules.
•Prompts: Giving verbal, visual, and physical prompts or cues can help a
student follow the rule with your assistance. “Let’s be a friend and give
him a virtual hug, because he is sad.”
Send a copy home (virtually or paper copy).
Print and post a paper copy for you to use in your virtual classroom.
Review at the beginning of each virtual day.
Create the Rules Poster:
• Print the one page poster
• Create your own: Print the
• empty rules poster and the
rules cards. Pick the rules you
want and Velcro them to the
poster.
