Virtual Classroom rules The school year is starting with a very different classroom landscape, and we have to adapt. Don’t feel like this is wasted time! If you spend time on virtual rules at the beginning, as problems arise, and after school breaks, there will be less problem behaviors during the rest of your virtual school year! Introduce Introduce the rules slowly. Explain the rule in concrete terms to the students, so they will understand what the rule is and what it looks like. Practice, Practice, Practice Provide MANY opportunities for students to practice the rules. •Prompts: Giving verbal, visual, and physical prompts or cues can help a student follow the rule with your assistance. “Let’s be a friend and give him a virtual hug, because he is sad.” Send a copy home (virtually or paper copy). Print and post a paper copy for you to use in your virtual classroom. Review at the beginning of each virtual day.
